  1. So that excludes you from a certain group Good thinking Jo. Not only Sam's sharp chissel comes in handy, a sharp mind is a real asset too. Did you check if the frames are square on the keel (90 degrees)? You can use your lego for it as it is square on all corners
  2. Looks fine to me, like when you had it off the mast ... miss a bitta colour though
  3. the difference will be minimal, the resistance big enough, but you can't win if you don't try. I only wonder if the bond will be strong enough ...
  4. Wefalk You might, but the CA will most probably create sharp edges or protrusions
  5. One will never ever have enough clamps, druxey. Look at it, Amalio can't even finish an entire length ... Another fine day at the shipyard Amalio
  6. To expensive Keith, with shipping and all
  7. That sounds like a contradictio interminus. Make something heavier to make it faster. The oddity, to me, if you add weight to the keel you create more friction or suction, which should, genarally speaking, hold you back.
  8. Nice plane. Built a 1/72 when I was a boy. You should read up on some of the techniques to bring out details like grooves and such, or will you be weathering her ...
  9. Wouldn't it depend on how much you are willing to compromise as a designer on your design, to get a faster boat compared to a stable one ... just wondering
  10. Keith, it has nothing to do with exile. Ever seen an average European garage? Normally it is big enough to get your car in, that's about the whole meaning of garage. After you've gotten it in, you get out of the car and it's shelter either by going through the open roof, if not available you might try kicking out the windscreen. Exile sounds pretty much the better option compared to detention in a mansize hole ... (probably without heating!)
  11. She may be right, but it looks like there won't be much of a health hazzard ...
  12. I love these subs, and often considered buying the one from Krick as it is the "sailing" one, but lacks a lot of detail. Your build, has got me thinking again. Especially with the added PE it will most certainly make a beautiful build. I was wondering with regards to the lighting: Wouldn't the cables run on the inside of the hull, especially during that period of shipbuilding. You could make it less hard on yourself with regards to not making them invisble if you let them run on the inside instead of on the outside ...
  13. So your not sanding, but milling ... very confusing all this talk about this days, and dust On the other hand I love the way you are making your build log another example on how one can build a model from scratch ...
  14. Questions, questions, questions ... decals ... white text. You make outlined text, the outline should have the same colour as the background you put the decal on, the surrounding area of the decal to. Not that hard I woul say, just to come up with, I needed it a while ago, hence the quick response I'll look into the mast. You'll need riging from the yard down (flags and such) wire to the readio room etc. Look at the plastic builds!
  15. Fair job, mate. Why did you use the plastic for the superstructures anywas. It looks like one big lump of brass ... does it come in "all brass" too???
  16. As time evolved, the wood quality of the models decreased (not only for wooden ships). Lasercutting only made things look easier. You should realise you didn't start a jigsaw which you've found out by now, but besides the manual in the box, you've got a "walking" knowledge base at your feet here at msw. Use it to your advantage, and your build will be a lot of fun
  17. I am still looking for the minor defects. Marvelous detail as we have come to expect of you
  18. Glad you got that wrapped around. Next time build a larger scale, it will be easier by far on the soldering. You might want to get a larger dining table too in that case. Your railing looks actually rather good, just enjoy the view
