  1. Well... that explains the monster Tic-Tacs that many seem to use.
  2. I'm not sure you can do the caulking at this point. Most of us use a #2 pencil or an old black felt tip pen on one edge of the plank. Many lay in construction paper or even thinner paper. Or... we don't it at all.
  3. I remember the term back in my plastic car days. Take a stock auto and cut, glue, fill, reshape into the final appearance.
  4. Welcome to MSW. We're a friendly and helpful place, so feel free to start a build log when you're ready. It's great way to get help when needed and meet other builders.
  5. Tis a murky line at best as Gunther points out. You can scratch build a model using kit plans... so is that a scratch or bashed kit? I called my Constellation a "bash" since I used the kit as a starter and many parts that were modified. Here at MSW we use "kit" and "scratch"... if you use the kits keel and bulkheads, it's a kit but then it could be bashed into something else. Some things are just to nebulous to ponder much.. I think this one of them. Need an aspirin now.
  6. Since you approved the idea, CRI-CRI, I went ahead and moved this to the proper area.
  7. Lou, I think the fear is part of their psyche and that's the "fear of falling" and the disorientation from being tossed about. Maybe they got that fear as child being tossed in the air by dad?
  8. Keep going in that direction and you'll need a bigger diorama, Jack. The commando car came out great.
  9. I would say that the Hahn drawings are pretty "general" and not specific to any ship. His drawings for the cannons and carriages were developed for his models and methods. There are differences between what he drew for plans and the real vessel as he did take artistic license.
  10. Welcome to MSW, Richard. You had good advice and selected a good starter. The advice about a build log can't be emphasized enough. Have some fun, now.
  11. Welcome to MSW, Gregg. Enjoy the journey, it's a good one.
  12. All that detail at that scale makes my head hurt. Incredible.
  13. Sorry... but do try the search feature.
  14. That's hard to answer... maybe two small desktop/workbench tools like small table saw and a small scroll saw. I seldom use my lathe, but my mill gets used a bit more. Mostly it's two saws. Neither needs to be full size so Proxxon, Micromark, etc. might work for you. They don't need to be permanently mounted so you mount with screws or other hardware to make them removable in order to keep one stowed and the other on a bench.
  15. Very impressive, Kevin. The camo is definitely an attention grabber.
  16. Looking excellent, Keith. The additions are bringing it to life. BTW, are your eyes crossing because that is tiny work.
  17. I'm liking the rename, Mike. And the build will be "improved" by the yard's modifications.
