Hi,

thank you for your positive feedback.

It´s real goatskin, which I bougt on the internet.
Since this leather is much too thick for this use, I have split it with a simple device.

You can do that here see: LINK

Amazing. Thank you for the tip. I will have to use it!

For the bowsprit shrouds, thimbles must be spliced in eyes.
Here are the first and then the second attempt.
The rope is in the original 43 mm thick, in the scale 1:48, however, 0.9 mm.
Look at the pictures:

First attempt:

The bowsprit shrouds with eye splices, the bobstays and the preventer-bobstay with chain were installed so far. The lashings are only made firm if everything fits.

The bobstays are covered with leather.

The conclusion of the leather coats was secured with a closed band.

Hello,

thank you very much for the LIKES.

Currently I do the bowsprit gammoning.

The left handed ropes with a diameter of 0.9 mm were made on my own rope walk.

At the respective end an eye was spliced.DSC07741.thumb.jpg.ea4b99afd3f7d33e61faa33044f2aeaa.jpg

Hi johann,

The next and the latest version of this work should be growing miniature trees in bonsai style, then cutting and using them... 🙂

I follow with admiration...

Hi Paul,

thanks for the positive comment,

and thanks to the others for the LIKES.

The size of the blocks depends on the diameter of the rope, as stated by J. Boudriot.

The ropes for the hammock cranes have to be tensioned. I did that with tiny thimbles Ø 1,1 mm and lashings.

The thimbles on the next image have the following diameter from left to right:

Ø 1,1 mm
Ø 2,2 mm

Ø 2,6 mm

DSC07834.jpg.f6cdab839c4a7f4888375164e29a1884.jpg

The first attempts with seizings are not very nice.
With a "fake splice" it looks better?DSC07531_wett.jpg.e3f503e711caf3297b37b849deabd403.jpg

My work on La Belle have been on the back burner for a few years now, but reading your regular updates on La Créole is convincing me I have to make some time for this hobby again. Put work aside and meditate over ship construction is good for the soul.

Love your craftsmanship!!

That does very well and motivates enormously.
And I would like to thank all the others for the many LIKES.

With a small detail it continues here.

Hello friends,
thanks a lot for the nice comments and the LIKES.

On my rope walk I made the shrouds as hawser laid rope.

The dimensions for the shrouds I take from Information from the monograph by J. Bourdriot and made a list.

The first shrouds on the main mast are set.
It is important that the distance between the dead eyes is usually 2 x distance dead eyes.

Your mastery of construction is amazing and if any small detail has been overlooked I am not aware of it.  Your attention to every detail escapes description.

I am a fan.

Hello,

many thanks for the comments and the LIKES !

It Always makes me  happy.

In the meantime I have completed the shrouds of the mainmast so far. They are lashed tight only when the stays are installed.

The stays were all cable laid and it is wormed, as can be seen.

Around 1830 the stay mouse disappeared. The stays split into two parts which each had an eye for a lashing.

The mainstay and main preventer stay penetrated the foredeck and was fastened under it with strong eye bolts. These had iron counter-plates on the outside of the hull.
