after I have my other yard more or les ready for spring, I'm back at the ship yard. 

The carpenters have build the basic scaffolding for the galley and I'm do now the masonry work. I think, it's easier doing it 1:1

With your obvious superb skill at painting at miniature scale,  would it not be easier to faux paint the bricks. 

What you have is absolutely authentic.  Actual masonry at scale must be tedious and frustrating. 

The brick making -  maybe interesting to do ONCE - just to say you did it - but so many small parts really  asks a lot of an adhesive over time.

 

Using oil base paint, a pallet to get different shades of red clay - add in a bit of pumice for the dulling - lots of narrow masking tape strips.....

 

What you are doing is an impressive experiment,  but will the extra time and work be worth the result vs using a faux representation?

I was't really active at the shipyard the last days, because of the first really spring days with 20°C and sunshine. Now we are back in the reality with 7°C and rain! But slowly the galley get ready. Today the shipwright inspected her and was satisfied.

So I think I could glue her fast and start with the kitchen in front of her.

 Beautifully done, Siggi. Where was the wood for the fire stacked/kept? The hearth size looks like it would consume a lot of wood.

it is done!

The interior of the fore castle is ready. But first I had to build the 26 12 pdr ready and some smaller things, like the ashtrays for the ovens and the fire place.
