MRAP ATV by CDW - FINISHED - Rye Field - 1:35 Scale

Recommended Posts

We made it through the storm just fine. Lots of limbs and tree debris scattered about the yard. I be picked up a lot of it at daylight and began piling it at the roadside. Debris removal contractors will pick it up in the coming days. For us, no flooding, no structural damage to the home. Minor damage here and there, Gazebo  canvas top torn to tatters. It can easily be replaced. All those south of us did not fare as well. They will need time and help to get their lives back together.

First, glad to hear you're ok Craig.  The pictures from Florida look awful.

Love your model - looking great!  For the pictures, i'm probably more partial to 1 and 3.  2 is a bit too much, 5 a bit too little.  A little hard to tell when I'm not exactly sure what the painted model itself looks like.  Would be interesting to see if the answers would change for models with different colors and tones.

Great news Craig. That was a very bad one. It's good to know you and family came through okay. It's going to be a lot of work to get everyone on Naples, Fort Myers area back to normal.I

We had tropical storm winds most of the night but power stayed on and no damage. I just finished piling up palm fronds and free limbs

Glad you are OK, Craig. Buddy of mine has a daughter NE of Ft Myers and they were OK. Lot of tree debris on their horse farm. All folks and animals OK. I'm sitting in Greensboro, ready to attend a train event and we have a tropical storm warning. Gusty winds and 5 inches of rain. Supposed to start in the morning. Back home in Hooterville it should be a little gusty and some rain. Track seems to have shifted east.

Upon checking the contents of my storage building in the back yard, discovered a small leak in the roof developed over top of a couple of cardboard boxes full of models I had stored there. I removed the models from the boxes and put them in sunlight to dry the dampness some had.
This 1:48 scale kit of the Israeli F-16i Sufa was one that was damp. The decal sheets are my only concern from the leak. Beyond that, the only online review I read on this kit claimed it is a dog of first order, that it does not fit together correctly. Once I finish the MRAP, zI will start this kit next, If I find the bad reports are erroneous, I will start a build thread on it. If it’s truly dog poo, I’ll save it for the spare parts bin.

Like most things here lately I was unable to follow the day-to-day but I did get to binge read and enjoyed looking at it all . I have read a few things about these vehicles but never got a close up look, Thanks for the opportunity Craig. Glad to see you were able to weather the weather so well and that it treated you kindly Looking forward to your next build and hopefully I will be able to attend this time.

Craig, I'm curious about your photography setup, could you show us an overall photo of your setup. Any special lighting or backdrop ?  I'm always looking for ideas to improve my own. Thanks.

I’m not ignoring you Jack, early this morning a transformer down the street blew up and we have been without power since then. The power company says it will be restored by the  end of the day so I will take some photos when the power comes back up. I really don’t feel like starting the generator and touting all the extension cords unless I have to.

That's okay.  You guys got hammered pretty bad down there. No hurry!  Take care of family and friends first.

Lights are back in operation. How true is the old saying, “we don’t know what we got till it’s gone”

In the middle of my work room is an old ceiling fan. I have three natural light 60 watt equivalent bulbs in it. Bright “natural” light.

Above one of my work tables hangs a shop light with two natural light tubes..

My work table has a riser on top on the back side of the table. On top of the riser I placed a light blue fabric remnant I got from a discount scrap pile at the fabric store. Behind it I stand a piece of blue construction paper From the dollar store.

I take my photos using my new iPhone 14 with a 48 MP camera. I’ve been snapping the photos from 3 or 4 feet away then cropping the photos in the edit function of the iPhone.
