While various parts are drying I assembled the mid deck bulkhead.

Everything fit perfectly.

I've started making the Duchess shine with some of her fancy window and port decorations.

All were glued in place with a touch of CA glue.

DSC00252.thumb.JPG.21070886c6acc5dd797d0f30b6cb6c7f.JPGDSC00253.thumb.JPG.f7f303dc21d8bc1dfac02f7b3342d4e7.JPGDSC00256.thumb.JPG.d29f99aacca1a5187ce2e132dfcf3f26.JPGDSC00263.thumb.JPG.9badb00b8938baa017b07ee2bf2932a3.JPG

And here is the first of the photoetched decorations. Being the cautious type a tiny drop of CA was placed on the backside tacking them in place. Two coats of Future (Now Pledge Revive It) were applied and must say I'm happy with it so far.

That decoration is so much better than the old-school castings in kits like Royal Caroline, and contrasts beautifully with your fine planking.

Cheers, Derek

I admire the expert painting, the gold really pops! It is so weird that the Revive It works, but clearly it does.

Thanks Glenn, I too was wondering and the cautious side of me had to use a dab of CA just in case but it seems to work just as advertised. :)

Thanks Bob

I've completed the the fancy PE on the bulwarks to the bow now.

The figure head was primed and then painted gold.

After it was dry I placed it on the stem. A little sanding was needed to get it to slide in place. Then I placed the remaining PE at the bow.

Question if your hull bottom is white wouldn’t the horse shoe and bow tie fittings also be white?

Thanks Jim, The instructions have them gold so I stuck with that. I've also seen them the same color as the hull painting and black. I don't know what would be accurate on a real ship.

What gold paint are using? Are you hand brushing or spraying?

Thanks Bob, The gold and white are rattle can spray paint. I'll have to get the brands when I get home but they are generic paints. The red and blue colors are brushed on. They are Admiralty Paint Red Ochre and French Blue.

The channels have been placed by inserting in the designated holes. Channels were pressed against the points to mark their location. A pilot hole was drilled and the channels glued in place.

The rudder was assembled and attached to the stern with the PE pintles and brace straps as per the plans.

As the build has been progressing I've been building some of the various deck pieces.

If I'm waiting for glue or paint to dry I would work on a piece.

Here is some of what has been built so far.

This will make things move much faster when I start working inboard.

Thats what I did also. I really enjoyed making all the inboard deck items. The grating for the middle hatch needs to be fitted later so the anchor ropes can be added. The other option, if the grating is already glued, is to fit the rope to the middle hatch assembly before it is glued to the deck.
