So the Aussie Catalina carried a radar pod just behind/above the canopy....interesting. Never noticed that before now. Great looking little models, the Catalinas.

Very nicely done!  How are you planning to display these with the ship?

Even at 1/350 the Cat is a nice looking aircraft. Quite capable for it's day. Your renditions capture it as well. Your pictures could be "Blackcats". Planes that mostly just flew night missions. Fairly common in the Solomon's and Guadalcanal. Not so certain about the early months in the Pacific.

Just learned something new.

 

I always thought that  the Kawanishi was a much larger aircraft, along the size of the Boeing 314. But seeing it beside the Cat in the same scale it does not seem that much larger.

Interesting, it looks just like picture #17 in post #3 without the yellow sunset looking color. Even has the black spots.

Camouflage applied to Langley prior to her sinking? If so any idea what colours might have been used

It’s the same photo I’d say just a lot cleaner. As for camouflage I think it’s just shadow

No, they took 3 month to get here are are so brittle they fracture at about 25% each which makes them horrendously expensive

Are they fractured on arrival, or just when they are removed from the sprues (probably not the correct term)?

They are like brittle wax, about 20 broken in transit, and they are clumped together making it near impossible to remove them. They are very nice just near impossible to get off the fret. I think a different material would be a better outcome for them.

It's incredible what they're doing with 3D resin printing. So much precise detail.

Did you order any of yours through Shapeways marketplace? I bought some 1:144 sailor figures from one of their vendors and they came out real nice. At twice the scale, accidental breakage probably is reduced in a major way. They even offer 1:700 scale figures. I hate to think how delicate those must be.
