WOW !!!! Sjors, that planking and filler job is just exquisite !!!  And BIG - - - now if you build a second one then you can strap them to your feet and with a paddle you can walk on water  ;)  ;)

You have water in Holland??   ;)  ;)

Okay, okay, sorry for the sick jokes, she's really looking great and so is Anja's Halve Maan, unless she treated it with preparation H  :D  :D   Please say hi to Anja from this crazy flying Dutchman  :)

Nice job Sjors!

Did you only use some dust from the sanding mixed with glue to fill the gaps?

Nick

First planking looks good Sjors! wow, I did not realize the Aggy was so big!!! @Augie...to copper or not to copper....not telling Sjors to not do a good job, just reminding him that sometimes you don't have to sweat the little things, all a matter of deciding where ones priorities lie...for me on the Syren, it is in the coppering since that will be a new skill to learn...next build perfect planking lol

Nice planking, Sjors.

Didn't anyone tell Sherry to have two chairs?  One in each build area.  That way they don't have to be moved.

Again thank you all !

Always nice to read those comments  :D  :D

@ Piet,

The Fonz is a little bit shorter then the Aggy....about 3 cm.

So i have two of those biggies !

Water ? no, we don't have water at all !  :P  :P

@ CapnHarv,

She is just the right size to be a ships boat  ;)

@ Bob,

I know what you mean but when I let the Fonz on the shelf, she will never be finished.

And it is  a pleasure to do something else then planking  :D

But I'm happy that you like it.

And what is one month ?????? ( or sooner  :P )

@ Nick,

Als thanks !

No, I don't use sawdust 9 Even I have a lot of it )

I only use Balsa filler and that works perfect !

@ Robbyn,

Also thanks !

And that's why I put the Half Moon in front and on the Aggy to give you an idea how big she is !

And the coppering is for me also the first time that I'll be doing that.

But I have a great teacher who helped me if necessary :D

@ Sam , Mark and Grant.

Thanks for all what you are saying and doing !

Sam is carried a chair ,Mark is looking for 2 chairs and Grant ?

I don't know what he is doing  :D  :D  :D

He is running between two places ?

@ Matt,

Thank you very much  :D  :D

Those tools are just great.

I can not imagine that I have worked without them !

@ Bindy,

Thank you very much !

And may i ask what lesson ?????

And yes, it's a lot of ship  :D  :D  :D

I'm glad that I have the space to build it !!!!

When i have to do this in the living room, there is no space left to sit anywhere !

@ patrick,

Als thanks !

The planking cost me about 5 weeks.

And that not every day !

But I'm happy that she is closed now.

Next job to do is drilling holes for the gun ports......

But that's for next month.

Hi Sjors,

Really beautiful work on your first planking.  You've got a very smooth surface for the second planking and it should go on very easily.  I get the feeling this is going to be a special build.  Keep up the great work.

Hi Sjors,

Your last pics remind me of the pics of the space shuttle attached to a 747....

I think you do a fine job on planking since it is about the same as the spackling I used for the first

layer when I did my Victory bow section .

Cheers,

Jim

Thank Patrick, Augie and Jim,

@ Patrick,

I just love building this ship.

I think that it has to do it with the excellent drawing and wood.

It's a pleasure to work with it !

@ Augie,

I think it is very difficult to place the Fonz at the deck of the Aggy :P

But I shall make a picture of the Fonz in the back and the Aggy in the front.( If I can found the space  :D )

And thanks for the good word....

@ Jim,

Didn,t you know that NASA is following my idea to put one on the other ?????? :D  :D

I'm really pleased to her how happy you are with the kit.  We read so many posts about poor quality stuff around that your comment just brought me a smile.

Thanks Augie, but it is true !

I have make kits from Billing Boats ( a lot of plastic stuff )....OcCre, a lot of metal stuff and plastic blocks.......Corel, drawings just like if you need a translator who also de-crypt what is saying.....

And then Caldercraft.....I don't have shares from them , but I know for sure that my next build ( in about 5 years or so ) will be also Caldercraft !

  • 4 weeks later...

It was a long search but I find my Aggy log again !

Because it's May I will spend some time at her.

The Fonz is at the shelf for a while......

What have I done...

Make the focs'l ( if I wright that right )

Make the roundhouses with the hinges and painted.

Then i have make 3 gun ports with the frames in it.

Maybe it looks not perfect but I have still to paint them and then of course another planking.

So I can hide a lot  :D  :D

Looks great Sjors, I don't remember seeing any pics of how you did the gun port lining (?), they look great.  Any insights (photos!) into your basic techniques would be greatly appreciated!  :D

Thanks again Guy's !!!!

@ Jason,

I have a template for that.

Tomorrow I shall make a picture of it when it is attach to the hull.

Then you can see it.

@ Sam,

A month ?

I think 2 months......

I have to work in the mean time.... :(

@ Augie,

Yes, it is a 64.

So a few more to do !

And the blue on the roundhouses are lighter then they showing on the picture.

Now it looks black but it is really blue.....

Maybe when the sun is shining, I can make a better picture of that.

@ Popeye,

I know what you mean.

When you are looking to the rail between the two roundhouses Caldercraft want me to use brass stripes.

I don't like that so a piece of wood is better.

maybe I change some more on her but that will learn the future......

@ Mobbsie,

Thanks my friend ,

I hope I 'm not nuts at the end of all the gun ports....

There are some other stuff that I can do in between
