the metal block look like brackets rather than blocks......jut not the envisionment of blocks with no real 'hole' to speak of. if you want to use them, it's up to you......my offer still stands I looked in Peterssons book to refresh MY memory........as I thought....no tops. I was always under the impression that both masts are only two sectioned, but I see that there is a short third section on the fore mast with it's own cross tree...... note the horse for the main mast boom. doesn't appear that the cross trees act as a spreader either.........may be due to the rake of the masts. your going to have a majestic looking lady there

my favorites are bombers and WWI aircraft. I seldom do jets...but I have an F 15 Eagle I sometimes regret going totally into wood, and not keeping up with the plastic medium.......did that about ten years. I've forgotten so much it seems, or I'm having to get my edge back. well if your gonna go............go with a smile!

your right........it might have been better to build from scratch.......your arms must be wet noodles by now! we've had a few incidents of low bridge....I think though that most of our trailers are 13.6. they are posted, but guys try to go under anyway....one was going fast enough to cleave off over 3 feet of the trailer roof, before it stopped him! I brought one in one day because of a roof leak........looking in the trailer at first, it looked like something was sticking through the tear. come to find out, it was a nozzle from a filling station's emergency fire system! it started to open the roof like a can opener, before it broke off. this means you might need to alter the doors too. you did a super job!

....a well detailed engine the props look good too! -
thanks......it's not my best job, but it came out better than expected considering the kit. well folks.......I said I'd hopefully have some evening progress for ya......so here goes. at the moment......I'm like a kid in a candy store......bopp'in from idea to idea. really not ideal for a head fulla sawdust...it'll knock the stuff'in outa ya! I was going to repaint the inner bulwarks, but the heck with it.......I found myself masking for the upper outer hull paint. of course, with the hull upside down, I expected the upper surface of the rub rail to get missed. I decanted some of the paint into a small bottle and tried to brush it on, but the glue marks were showing up. still wearing the rubber gloves, I damned the torpedoes and held the hull while touching all this up. I tried to cover the deck, but I stink at it......hate it {never used to be}. there is part of the center deck plank run to the hold, but I'm hoping I miss it. terrible job on the inner bulwarks huh.........that will get another coat of paint. I'm gonna make the adjustment to the stand too...the dremel is in the garage. you know......I bought another accessory kit for the dremel, and I hardly use it. Gibbs hates the sound. anyway........giving this plenty of time to dry, it was re masked, and the bottom was done. pay no attention to the clothes pinned behemoth behind her..........the only flaw is at the bow. gotta touch that up. I'll let her set overnight.....gives me time to work on the stand.

wow! that's some really nice planking! been a while since I saw what you were up to......I see your still having fun not really a tip, but something you might try.......when you plank your decks, try using thin strip. they are easier to cut and trim, and it will add to your bulwarks. 1.5 mm planking vs .5 can make a big difference. I use Annegre sold by Billing Boats.....it's kind of like mahogany and comes in different shades. it can be purchased blonde as well so it can be stained any color you'd like. great looking planking...much better than I can do permission to follow along.........

LMAO! man....that would be like sandpaper....what RPM do you plan on runn'in it?!?!?! whatever you do....don't hook it to your dremel! do you need blocks?????? don't use those! what size.....I'll send ya some. I'm going to try and fit pulleys in the ones I have.......might work well for power blocks. really .....if you need some. the tops are another thing I would change, as I've never seen tops like that on any ship. the one shown on the left would be the better choice, if you were going to use them. I hope someone can correct me, but if you are going to do a schooner rig, there are no tops.......just the trestle trees and perhaps a cross tree. in some cases, the cross tree will serve as a spreader for the back stays. what information are you working from?

elevation in moderation.........perfect! -
bash away my friend.........that's what the hobby is all about in the early days of modeling, I think most really didn't take their models as serious as they do now. the modeling community was pretty isolated, unless you belonged to a club or group. as a young lad, I never did.......I did join the Revell club, but I wasn't keen on the selections they sent me. the serious modeler was your scratch builders....they had to research how the part looked and it's function in the model. now........when the internet came about.......that's when a lot of doors {and eyes} were opened ...wide! it was a whole new world.......folks could come out of their closets and cubbies, and share so much more information and techniques. do you have the mural for the trailer? when I did my looking around, I came across a fellow who talked about how some were getting it wrong and made up one that was correct. I downloaded the file, but of course, it has to be one that I can't open {or it was erroneous to begin with}. I've deleted it.......but I'm sure I can find it for you, if you'd like. I agree with you on the cascadia........the rounded body beats the square hood any day! yea....I agree......most of the trans ams out there are all hype...heck....I even bought one back in the day I even bought Daisy Duke's Jeep.........but curses, she wasn't in the box!~ the admiral loves Amazon.....I'm sure I can sweet talk her.........heck, I got her to order two ship books from there I jotted down those two numbers........oldmodelkits.com has been getting a lot of tractor / trailer kits lately....perhaps they might get one in.......I oogle them enough. but hey.....I'm going crazy here............what am I say'in......I already am!!! sure.......Denis is fine I answer to both.

chances are, if you were to paint the resin ones, the defect might disappear......it's just a flow mark. but the blades look good. the left one looks painted...the one in the middle is the resin one, so the one on the right must be the one you've sanded. -
the things a modeler has to go through.......... I ordered the mask set for this model around the beginning of the month........then I find out that I ordered it from a place in the Ukraine. had a tag on the mailbox this morning by the post office.....they needed a signature for a package. the admiral noticed that the mail man was just up the street, so I walked up there to see him. it had snowed this morning.......cold and raw now, misting rain, and I waited till he got back to his truck. chilled to the bone, but I got my package this will do the B 17F and G 1:72 by Revell. this isn't the reason why I haven't been working on her....... but I will be....hopefully I will have something for you all soon

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
