  1. I still envy you Mark........not having to worry about the 'grind' anymore. with the way my 'work' is set up, I have four days to devote to my builds {when it's possible}. I hope that when your 'smoke' clears.......you'll find more time for your build. thanks Ron.........yepper.....moving back to the Goth, but too many thing are cropping up with the holidays and home life to put any distance on things. what I've done with the Half Moon put me on a different spin..........making me want to bash the rest, rather than follow the kit build. I think it will be for the better though. the Goth is easy, I'm rigging....and back to it I go. with the way things are going....I think it's going to get a lot busier at the wharf. thanks as well Kimberly..........welcome to the insanity. yes, the wharf is a very busy place.....but I enjoy it, and have found working with wooden ships, a whole lotta fun. recent happenings here, are pointing the wharf to get a bit busier.......you'll find out about it soon {I hope}
  2. what you have Brian, is a kit from an early production. they seem to stop production, when the supply is large, and restart it again when the stock is near depleted. of course, this also means that the instructions can change, if the kit goes through any modifications in the process. you might see better diagrams and stuff, but with how many Billing's kit I've built in the past, it's a safe bet that you won't see much improvement. they are, in my opinion, great kits to bash, adding in details that may not be in the kit in the first place. I've come to understand their instructions, and with a little research, very easy to expand on. is that kit laser cut?
  3. that's what I see as well........a loop tied under the crow's nest and caps, in which the shrouds are passed through. are there any tabs or hooks on the dead eyes? if not, could you drill a hole, large enough to pass the thread through? on your instructions, I do see something that looks like a tab.
  4. looks like you could fit a wedge behind it........give it the impression that it is {just food for thought}. great start on the rigging....your doing a super job on these two builds. they look great together.
  5. wonderful work on your ships Sjors........I see your getting into the yard rigging.....that's great! they looks great together......the colors and finishes are very well done.
  6. now, your going to be home for an extended period this time around.........I believe you mentioned this earlier. this will give you the time to put the finish to Peg {I'm pulling for you big guy}, and then you can start those projects you've been wanting to do......especially that bulk carrier {can't wait to see that one in the works}. you really got my mind going about that........I even took an assessment of my paint supply......I have plenty of International Orange {evil grin}
  7. very nice progress Piet...still can't get over how nice the entire ship looks in primer .....still rather do the 'Gallagher' to my hardware..........I find such peaceful satisfaction :D
  8. your work is superb as always.....glad to see you found some time to get back to the cutter. so, you got snow already......is it staying? we haven't had any yet........it's been cold enough to support it. we might even see some before thanksgiving.
  9. you really hate an internet provider that relies on solar power.....time to change up, good buddy :D
  10. you've done very well.......the hull looks great! looks like rigging will be in your future soon nice work!
  11. nice start on the aft structure John........aren't they fun! are they scratch, or part of the kit? going to look great when you get it fleshed out and painted
  12. great start on the planking Augie. I'm sure you'll be able to square away the small counter problem.........you've done very well so far
  13. this is Daniel's build Dragzz, I'm merely a spectator but.....yes, this is some of the aspects you can do........mind boggling, isn't it.
  14. .....OK.........OK.........so, when's the plank'in party? fantastic progress so far!
  15. you know.......you could have adjusted the angle of your cuts.........but a small detour in scratch building never hurt anyone. just as long that we don't lose you down the rabbit hole good to see you back at the table.....looking forward in seeing what you come up with
  16. hey there mark............you mean to tell me, that the last person finally left your "retirement" party!!??!?! must have been a doozie! thanks for the good word.......I've only just begun on the deck layout.
  17. you've done a fantastic job so far...the only possible answer to your question is "until you are satisfied with it". a question does come to mind though..........how wide are your cap rails going to be, and will they over shadow your pin rails?
  18. guess I forgot to hit the button again..........it was early in the morning :D the best of intentions are usually met with the greatest of opposition. it's probably for the best.........think of the rigging you'd have to remove to open 'er up. I don't think you'll have any problems........you've taken great pains to get 'er this far I'll look forward to the big finish!
  19. you'll find yourself in some strange situations, when rubber bands and clothes pins can't suffice. I've been in a few strange ones, myself looking very nice.......like your choice of color.
