Hi Doris,

I am just catching up with your postings. The craftsmanship is as usual the best ever. I particularly enjoy this time your lighting, and the scene from your living room that looks like a ship is on fire somewhere in the distance. Very evocative!

Hello Mark,

exactly, it's also my target to add something special to my models and make them more impressive. I am pleased, you like it.

happy holidays from Belgium

Dear Patrick,

I'm rather a technical type of person, I also like "playing" with real cars -  also do some easier repairs or renovation and make various LED lighting on them. Fast cars are also my favourite hobby.

My 27 years old Nissan Primera (I love this car and have renovated it completely):

Life has taught me a lot, I grew up without my father and there was no guy in the family. So I had to make plenty of "male" work.  Now it is useful to have such abilities.....😃

I have started to make furniture, meanwhile it is without final painting. It is made mostly from modeling clay and card covered with foils. The chair is assembeld from 28 parts. Soon I will bring more. Just enjoy.

Hello Doris,

I discover your subject and I admire !
If you allow me, I have one or two questions about your sculpture technique.
Page 20 on the Czech forum, you are writing this :

"The modeling of the decoration began by making the first of many caryatids to decorate the posts between the rear galleries and the mirror windows, and the statue is a lot of black, so I'll have to shift the macro lens to focus it in. It's done with details in the face and various elements , which are visible on the elements of the Riksäpplet decoration from which I draw these figures.
 ... / ...
On the exam, I have cured the first three caryatids after molding in the oven and placed them on the columns of the left gallery - it is only temporary, the karyatides will be 100% matched to the height and tilt of the posts. So far they have no patina. The camera does not completely render all the details thanks to the glare, but the husband, when he was looking at it, just remarked that I was a maniac .....: D "

I would like to learn more about how you are modeling : what software, accuracy, informations ... Also, for the realization you are talking about "molding in the oven" : can you detail ? Did you make a subject about the process as a whole : from the starting point of a subject to achieve until the final result ?

But maybe you're explaining somewhere : language barrier will not help me ...

Thank you in advance for your answer and congratulations on your great work!

Patrick

Hello Michael,

exactly, sometimes I would need even more than 48 hours in the day to manage all my activities (home duties, garden, cars, sports, riding, ship modeling, playing the piano,.....,  and mainly my husband 😊).

What adhesive do you use to joint parts together?

I imagine, you first bake the sheet with all parts on it, and then you put them together into a chair... With what glue? A CA adhesive? Epoxy...?

It's exactly what you imagine.👍 I use a medium-thick CA adhesive/industrial quality.

If I am not mistaken that Atlantic kit is over 50 years old and the Corsair is not exactly a new model, how difficult were these to find?

By the way your finished models look better than the ones printed on the boxes.

.....

We bought this car nearly 8 years old and it was damaged and neglected. It has been repaired and serves us reliably for nearly 20 years. I believe, it will run for many next years.

Oh yes, these ITC models come probably from the 60s of the last century. Exceptionally they will appear at auction or ebay, but it is not easy to find new/undamaged or complete kit for a good price. I've made some improvements and added various accessories to achieve better results. Some of them are available in our country: https://www.hismodel.com/

Now I am working on another kit of the Yacht Corsair ii and gonna to make complete rigging with sails.

Okay, Doris - now you’re just messing with us!  Really?  A perfect card model recreation of your Nissan?!

Whenever it is that both of my children have stopped believing in Santa Clause, I will let them know that it is perfectly real to believe in you - the magical maker of things.

I don’t know how you do it, or where you find the time, but it is a real treat every single time.

Happy New Year to all!
