Hi Karl,

I have just found and read through your log, and seen some of your skills.  There are so many nice things I could say about everything you have done but Archjofo sums it up perfectly when talking about your latest work:

Hi Karl,
the capstans are handcrafted masterpieces.
I admire your skills.
Absolutely fantastic.

Truly incredible!

That is so well detailed I am lost for words - excellent craftsmanship!

How did you make the fine detail on the bolt heads? Are they individually filed/made?  If so, you quality control and consistency is remarkable.

cheers

Pat

I don't know what is more impressive...the brass metal on the guns or the hardware on the carriages.  Could you tell me more about the metal on the guns?  I have never heard of "brass beaten metal".

Very well done, Karl.  Interesting method for making cannon barrel.   And, I love the detail including the number on side of the carriage.

I'm sure you'll make good use of that new lathe Karl!

Have fun! I look forward to seeing some of the work done on it.   :)

If I'd known I was going to live this long, I'd have taken better care of myself.

Karl I'm curious what great parts you are going to make with this tool, looking forward to the pictures.

@Google translate, thanks for the laugh, 'cool tool'  would be the appropriate translation for what Karl means :)

Treat each part as if it is a model on its own, you will finish more models in a day than others do in a lifetime.

Current build HMS Kingfisher

Enjoy your new toy, Karl!

Thanks for clarifying that you were using imitation gold, rather than real gold leaf. I guess that's why you could afford the lathe!
