My apologies for rambling on about my situation but it kinda makes you gulp a few times when the Dr. tells you what you got and what happens next. I can only say I have been heavily medicated and plead the 5th lol. So with that out of the way let's tie up some loose ends. The first picture shows all the shrouds installed but needs tieing. After teing CMSI gave me the ok to move on to ratlines yeppiy, I think he is being kind to many mistakes but for me it's passable. Trying to figure out my next steps I thought I would have a look at the upper shrouds and deadeyes Holy I thought regularl deadeyes were small look at these they are only 5mm wide lol not today to much to figure out. I am going start the ratlines. I broke the Buttafuori or outrigger off the stren but it's wood so I can fix or replace we will see. As I look apon my ship it really looks kinda bare, just the ship boat that's all. So I put the word out to buddy @Gabek and he might get me some figures to help fill it in. I hope the prices for the figures is the same as last time. 25 lbs potato, 25 lbs tomatoes, corn depends on the quality lol. He really does great work, he made my stove and cannons for the Pegasus. And I could not be happier. Thanks Gabek 😊. So this is how she looks today. Ok till next time. In my haste to get started on the ratlines, I am half way up the Mizzen mast When I reliesed that the shrouds were tied on wrong at the top. You guessed it, one cut with the scaple blade and she came down.I only wanted to cut one rope. So this is what I came up with, a rope ladder.lol looks fine to me. You can see why I stoped the Pegasus build lol, rigging skills are not ready for it. Lol Let's move on too the Main mast . At first glance I thought ok. But just noticed the channels are on backwards. The bigger end should be at the back I hope this doesn't make too much of a difference to the shrouds and ratlines we will see , it is to far along to turn back now. I will just have to mark it down as "on the next build I will do better".lol I am going to add shear poles , The plan doesn't call for them but I like the way they look and it helps straighten things out as well. So I will lash this one on and do some more ratlines. @Baker Patrick the song 99 ratlines on the wall is on auto loop it goes on forever and ever. Lol I can't stop signing it. And wonder how many crew members hum this tune lol. So lots of ratlines to do , I am in my happy place. Lol. Very glad there is no actual plan for the Mayflower because it could have been built this way lol but most likely NOT lol. It's moving along well, tons of errors but live able. It's all practice now and practice makes perfect they say. Looks like I will need a lot more practice lol 😆 😂 Bob M. Marvin says that I am a little rusty , but after a dozen or so Clove hitchs they were rolling off my tweezers. Lol. I think I discovered why I like ratlines, I think it's because if I am doing ratlines that means the shrouds and deadeyes are done and installed lol. Well at least I only have 9 more upper shrouds to do . They are very small but esay to do. And they're only 9 left to do lol. CMSI has told me to straight up the deadeyes on the foremast, and get those anchors on as well. Chop chop. I am hoping to get this ship done by mid July, it will be 3 years that I have terrorized MSW, lol . I know I have way to much fun building models, and most definitely not the way it should be done but they are starting to look like ships ha ha . Now I wished I never got so excited when I finished my Santa Maria and bought 7 more ship that I thought I like to build. I still can't convince the First Mate 😪 to let me buy a Vanguard model, I told her the price to get a fully deck out Indy shipped here and in Canadain funds lol. I can not repeat what she said lol. On to the fore mast. Then the starboard side will be done. With Easter coming up and medical updates, just to set my next surgery, so it may be awhile, right after Easter I am knot sure how much I will get done. I will update the log after the foremast is done. Hey @Bryan Woods I know what you mean there is just too much terminologies to learn and if it were not for spell check I wouldn't know how to spell terminologies lol. I got a little time today so I decided to show you all how I make my rat lines. There are many ways to do this and people have different types . This is how it works for me. Rat lines one of my likes about modeling. Captain Marvin says " this I got to see" lol Frist thing is make a loop over the shroud and under and grab it with my neanderthal fingers then pull tight then over and through. Pull all this tight then make sure it in the right place, and glue it on Just the frist one gets glued then you make the rest of the row then glue the last one after you have accurately measured it in place. I was told not to glue every single Clove hitch just the first and last it keeps your shrouds and ratlines from becoming to stiff. So that's what I do lol. Then just cut the ends off and straight tin out the line. And then move on to the next one. And you just keep going till you get to the top. All this I learnt from MSW logs and having someone post a picture so I can see how they did it. I have lots of ratlines to keep me happy just on this ship. And I have so many to look forward to on the Pegasus lol. I can't thank everyone enough for helping me along , and I like the way my models look, and can sea were I need to improve too lol. This morning I finished up to crows nest then made the upper shrouds and deadeyes. I believe they went ok. I given myself some slack because this side will not show in the display case. CMSI says the middle deadeye is to short. Glad this is the practice side lol. On to the display side, or port side. Well on we go to the display side lol. No more short cuts. We'll maybe just a little around the Mizzen mast lol. This Mayflower Amati model is alot of fun. It has great wood, and you don't really need to add anything. Unlike another one I am doing you have to replace what's in the kit, so it looks half decent, and it's a long list. You pay enough for the kit and then you have to decide which way you want to make it because they don't send enough parts they say so right in the manual. Was not impressed. I told all this to the First Mate, she said sorry for my troubles but I still Can't buy a Vanguard model, then she played a little tiny air fiddle. LOL. So now I have about 340 Clove hitches to tie I am in my happy place. So happy I might buy myself a early Christmas present. Lol 😆 Thanks all my friends. I need to tie some ratlines lol. However I have some doubts/remarks regarding thickness of the stays and other standing riggings proportional rigging ... how did You calculate them? Thickness of the standing rigging? It shouldn't be the same as thickness of the shrouds? Main stay is the biggest one on the vessel ,exept perhabs anchor rope , all other standing riggings should be proportional less in sizes. There are a few perfect exell tabels , free download, easy to calculate thickness of all standing and running riggings depends on diam. Of main mast... Another question - securing/ lashing of the boat on deck and how it is positionedcon deck , is a little be doubdfull how You made it, it should be placed upside down from current position and lashing should be passed from side to side, but not crossed from side to side as You shown...It never be done like this on the vessel :)... I don't know why many times we could see this wrong way of securing boat on deck made by our colleques ... it is absolutely wrong way to do it like this:) I noted spaces between deadeyes looks too short... norm it should be spaced approx 2-3 -or even 4 times of deadeyes diam... all those small but devil important details very nicely and clear explained in R.C.Anderson book of 17th vessels rigging... do You have it under your hand? If not, I would be strongly advised to download this priceless book , there is all and even more, we need for building galleon models rigging and models of 17th century ships rigging.. I meant, regarding all said above, it is matter if we would like to make some historic accurate job and make some improvents to the kit we are working with, but it is just my private point of vew, and if You don't agree and have your ownn ideas how things should be performed, just discard all I said above Wish all the best! My dead eye look good to me just like the plan says. @krill4 . Buying this book wont help, I cant read lol. But thank you. It is unbelievable how much work there is on Just this part of the plan wow But I learnt alot for the next ship . So now , got to figure the next step. Rigging is coming along, parts are tuff because the plan only says rope. Not what size or color. The one place they make a difference is the instructions say black rope lol. I will figure it out lol. So I am straining with coffee, my sails, the yards are made. Bitts are ready to go just have to put it all together. So time to hang the yards, and shape the sails for that wind look . Got a few Stow aways from the Darkkar but Captain Marvin Got them to leave. Last I saw of them they stole the Pegasus boat and they were headed home lol. A few more pictures of Captain Marvin in action lol. Latter my friends, Still having way to much fun making models lol But thanks all for your help and thoughts. I got some ruff days ahead but the Captain will keep me in shape lol. Making the sails is time consuming but great fun. I just started them so it will be a bit. I going to use GAC 400 to stiffen the sails, a tip of the hat to @mrcc for pointing to it. It great stuff I love it. It does what I want 😌. Sew back to the sails. I get to sew my own sail, the First Mate is away for awhile. So Neanderthal sewing 101. This is a great hobby . I still am in awe about how much fun this is. I for one can't thank NRG/MSW enough for helping me. I wanted to learn how it was done. I have been trying to learn how to build ships right ever since lol 😆 Going to make some sails. Then RIGGING. 😆 There is only six sails, how long can that take lol. Thanks again everyone. Bob M.
