The rigging looks so complicated and intricate! You're doing a wonderful job of working your way through it all, David.

I am firmly onboard for this build, Grant. I too have fancied a steam powered model and have looked carefully at the Alexandria by Krick models. However, I know I would be in way over my head trying to build a steam powered RC model. I'll be following along intently as you work your way through this one. Good luck, Grant. I'm sure you'll build another showpiece to add to your ever expanding, eclectic assortment of models!

Unfortunately, my Flirt and my Pen Duick have been lying idle for a very long time. I'm not sure when I'll get back to working on either of them again but they are both beautiful models and deserve to be completed. It looks like you have started the Cheerful. I'm looking forward to following along as you build her. Good luck!

She looking great, Don, and you're the only one who will notice a slight lack of symmetry. Everyone else that sees her will simply be gobsmacked that you could build such an impressive model. Fairing the hull is, at least for me, one of the most challenging steps in model ship building and I've yet to do it well no matter how slowly I go while eyeing it from different angles and constantly checking with a batten. I admire those folks who complete this task with confidence and accuracy.

It's really great to see you making this model, Chuck. I love these small, working boats and this is a very interesting one. I think it would be a wonderful addition to your line of models and I hope it will become one of your one regular offerings in the near future.

Alfa Romeo Spider Touring Gran Sport by CDW - Pocher - 1:8 Scale
BobG replied to CDW's topic in Non-ship/categorised builds
I was so inspired from watching Grant build his beautiful Alfa Romeo that I found a good deal on one and bought it but, alas, it still sits temptingly on a shelf in the den. I look forward to following your build now too. Good luck! -
She's a real beauty, Doug! It's been a pleasure following your build log as well. I look forward to your next project.

It great to see another Pen Duick being built. She's such a beautiful and historic sailing vessel. Unfortunately, my model has been sitting idle in my dry dock for a very long time. I'm looking forward to following along on your build and, hopefully, I'll gain some inspiration and motivation to get back to work and finish mine. She's much too beautiful to be left unfinished. Good luck!

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
