  1. Persistence pays off Denis, those nets will look great on the model..... and a couple of spares to boot cheers Pat
  2. Hi and a very Happy New Year Rusty, nice progress. The links work but on PC at least, the thumbnails are not showing? cheers Pat
  3. Very nice job on those gudgeons Jason; that rudder looks a lot better. That transom is going to look very good when finished and well worth the effort you are putting into it. cheers Pat
  4. Wow!!!!!! that is going to be one very nicely detailed model if this is any indication Wefalck. cheers Pat
  5. Another beautiful model John; she looks great. Particularly nice to see another model that is not mainstream and preserves the history of these vessels. cheers Pat
  6. Much easier Greg Denis, the idea/concept was developed by Chuck who does this with his small boat series; Dave has just adapted it a little to serve his needs (and the lucky soul has access to a laser cutter) Thanks for all who looked in and gave a 'like" cheers Pat
  7. Hi again folks; hope you all had a happy and safe festive season. I have made a start on the two remaining boats to complete my build; the yawl and the skiff. I am doing these part-time between the yard chores and HMCSS Victoria. First, I would like to thanks DaveRow who has kindly designed the laser templates and cut the boat templates for his build but provided me with a spare set; many thanks Dave. These are great, and make assembly a lot easier. The template is 0.6mm thick so the keel is a lamination of 4 layers which creates a natural rabbet. The rudder and transom piece are 2 x lamination but the remainder of the pieces will be single. I don't think I would have achieved this level of detail without the template. i will stage a ruler in my next set of shots to give a better idea of scale. cheers Pat
  8. Great to see you back Remco and to see that lovely model of yours again. cheers Pat
  9. Nice to see you back at this model Wefalck; look forward to seeing her evolve. cheers Pat
  10. A nice way to close one and open another year Toni, nice progress and the beams look good even without sanding. Always send a bore scope down to look at those details cheers Pat
  11. I thought you were told to slow down Dave? Very nice work on that rabbit, very clean cut. I can understand the 4:30 thing - I have got to the point that if I am not asleep within 30 mins of hitting the hay, I get up and write down everything stirring in my head; actually setting to work is another thing though. The beakhead is coming on nicely. cheers Pat
  12. Very nice work Greg and a great first-off new year mini-project. Plenty of detail in those and they have assembled nicely despite the poor instructions. happy New Year! cheers Pat
  13. Thanks Cristi, same to you. that machine looks very useful for carving/engraving. Much learning to do with the software? cheers Pat
  14. You're not mucking around with this one are you That is significant progress in a very short time. cheers Pat
  15. One of the few positives Ben is that it should go quicker having done it once already. Looking good! cheers Pat
  16. Aghh! Now you have done it - I am very jealous of that fabulous set-up Some great flexibility of function you have created in that machine Wefalck. Any left-over bits I could you use with my Lanco? (Sorry being a bit cheeky there). Seriuosly, a really useful set up for small part machining. cheers Pat
  17. That restoration is coming along very nicely Michael and I am learning a lot from it. I have been asked to do some rigging repairs on a few models in a local exhibit but I must admit we did not do it very sympathetically (as you have done) and it is easy to see the new pins and rigging repairs in some areas; no hull work to date. You have opened my eyes as to how to do it correctly. cheers Pat
  18. Charlie, we used the Amati, which come in port and stbd sheets to allow the proper leading edge and overlap for either side, on the club's build of HMCSS Victoria. They proved accurate for scale and were relatively easy to apply. cheers Pat
  19. A very good interpretation/summation of the available facts and contemporary information Dafi, thanks for sharing. cheers Pat
  20. A beautiful and practical piece of tooling Wefalck; a testament to your skills and ingenuity. cheers Pat
  21. That's looking really good Denis; all that extra detail really brings her to life. cheers Pat
  22. Hi Ben, a new comer to your great log - sorry i missed this earlier and also for the initial flurry of Likes; I think you get the idea that I like what you are doing I will follow more closely from here-in cheers Pat
  23. May not be the best technique but I also found it is better to soak the wood to be drawn first; especially bamboo. cheers Pat
  24. A great milestone Elijah; on the homeward stretch now mate. cheers Pat
