Hey....good to hear from you. She looks great. Neat idea replacing your keel clamp with a keyboard. Now you can build and update at the same time

Really looking fine. Almost appears as if she's anchored off some South Sea Island.

The rigging of the masts and their associated yards has been completed ! Spent the last day or so doing some needed housekeeping on board. Dusting, a little touching up of the paint, some minor line retensioning and a spot of dullcoat here and there. Had to get her ready for her photo op. And a few more just to keep you-know-who happy: We shall now be moving on to one I'm particularly looking forward to ---- the Spritsail yard. If I can get that on properly I will have completed ........ wait for it......... THE WHOLE NINE YARDS :D Then we'll tackle the anchor and it's tackle, including the anchor buoys. Da_ _ed, I believe I see a light at the end of this tunnel!!!!!! Now don't expect the next update to come too quickly. Got some fishin' and flyin' to do first. Everyone be well !

Fabulous. Glad to see the painting issue resolved. And that dullcoat can be quite useful. I'm sorry I didn't find out about it until late in my build. I use a slightly different one, also made by Testors in their Model Master series of paints.....it's called dull flat lacquer and it brushes on. If they ever kill the spray-on, keep it in mind. Love the use of the various woods. Really makes this little boat shine (dullcoat not withstanding) Especially the pear thwarts (seat thingys).

OK, enough 'Wild Kingdom'. A quick update. The main course clews, sheets and tacks are in. So the mainmast is DONE and we now move forward to the fore courses. A little shaky on this next shot but you get the idea ----

Don't panic Sjors. Hunting is a long tradition here and, although I don't participate, I respect those who do. It's their choice. Like Sherry, I hunt paper with guns and animals with a camera !

Add extra weight to model ?
augie replied to NenadM's topic in Building, Framing, Planking and plating a ships hull and deck
Is there any way you could add sand as the ballast? Perhaps through the mast holes (assuming the masts are not stepped into the keel). Or perhaps create some openings underneath where the deck hatches will go? -
That's a 'different look' that you've created there blending the kit aspects with the Goodwin descriptions. My bottom line is that it looks good! VERY good.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
