  1. holly molly Danny........they are so skillfully done! very nice.........you really risen to this medium very fast "this is my razor.........there are other's like it, but this one is MINE!!!"
  2. Walter....I am so deeply sorry to hear of your wife's passing. I stumbled onto your log today....I feel terrible, since I had lost touch with your log....finding out that you had tabled Meridea, to work on this new project. I believe as you do, that she is in a much better place.......she suffers no more. I send my condolences to you my friend......my thoughts are with you.
  3. planking looks very nice Nils...the contours are really graceful. smooth flow from bow to stern. rudder is looking good too
  4. really nice job with the coppering. some folks let it age naturally, some will dry brush it with med green, olive drab, or a lighter shade of green.....flats. down strokes to the keel. any other method, and you'll need goggles and mits for it. care for the mad scientist look?
  5. what I do with the sails I make, is to paint them with diluted white glue after they are sewn. I take a beach towel roll it up in crumpled mess and cover it up with plastic wrap. the sails are laid on it, positioned so that they will take on major billow. a flat lacquer can also be used if you want them to be stiffer, they are still just as bendable. reef line will also benefit from this.......they won't stick out all over the place. use a pick to lift them away from the sail, so they don't become stuck to the sail.
  6. nice fix! are you going to fix the crow's nest basket too? she's look'in awesome Michael
  7. the mast foot looks very good.......as does your grating. I thought you nailed it according to the picture you showed......don't understand what all the fuss was about if you plan to keep the decking a lighter color, then you'll do well with the tree nailing......but if you plan a darker finish, you may lose some of the appeal. depending on the scale, some elect not to......but with the width of planking your using, you should do well with it she's look'in great so far.
  8. when I buy the Testor's glue in the tubes, I buy the pack that has the nozzles in it. I have a bunch of them, but what I use them for the most though, is wood filler. I cut the neck so I can fit a nozzle in the hole, and I can extrude a fine line of filler wherever I need it. I hardly use them for glue because they always tend to clog up. your doing a great job so far.......definitely wouldn't class you as stupid

  11. nice job on the ladders...they look good in place on the mast. it's sometimes hard to stay within scale, so I give myself a sort of + and - they don't look too bad - you did a great job it's added detail that some would never put in there......
