  1. yup.....that's what I figured Kevin........the first progress picture was what I was thinking of you hadn't made that port side wall yet. I didn't want to comment...but my curiosity got the best of me. that will make for some really neat detail inside.
  2. she's look'in good Russ......nice smooth hull. noting the outlines of the structures on deck, perhaps one use would be as a footing, as one goes fore to aft...or aft to fore.
  3. I'm the same way.....I don't like to paint decks either. as I've seen though, some working boats do tend to have painted decks. it would be safe to say, that the wood grain deck is reserved for the sailing ship and pleasure crafts. I have done it though to a couple of my projects, and I like how they came out. as long as it works well with the subject. love the little boat.......so sweet to see the 'mini me' effect very nicely done........super progress
  4. so nice to see her in the dry fit........the decks really look super aft deck looks sweet!
  5. rigging is coming along nicely........the sails really fill out the masting
  6. comparing the picture above with this one, it appears that the hangars are too far back. they should be flush with the aft section of the structure, and appear more boxy. is there a port side outer wall that you haven't added yet? no offence either......always good to know where you are with your project. it is from that picture though, that I see this.......perhaps something you haven't though of yet
  7. thanks Piet shouldn't be long now noooo that would be one 'plaque' with a very short shelf life! it's hard to find a place where folks can get a decent piece of fish. we have a small family restaurant that does a nice feed........combine that piece of fish with some cole slaw and fries, and I'm happy. we have to go out to Hampton Beach to really get the good stuff.
  8. really nice progress Dan.....love the way the super structure is shaping up your embracing this medium in a big way...becoming quite good at it in a very short time! very well done!
  9. nice start on her KP.......looks to be quite a few parts to this little beauty
  10. I believe i looked for this project a while ago.......never found it glad to see your log Floyd.....followed one of your other builds {T37..I think} and enjoyed it a lot sanding is one of my favorite chores { not}........bulwarks are looking good!
  11. ohhhhh.....you kidder , you! thank you so much J.........really appreciate the birthday wish. according to George Carlin, I've gone 61 years around one. I won't go into the rest of the skit.....kind of an ill thought it was a nice quiet day though.....got my Haddock plate
  12. found your project Daniel........amazing progress on her very well done!
  13. hey there Kees! that's fantastic that your feeling well enough to take such a large leap I think you'll find it more therapeutic as well......I am so happy for you! Happy belated birthday to you as well! may you continue to enjoy your new found freedom!
  14. thank you Patrick........I had a great day yesterday. a bit low key, but nice none the less.
  15. rigging looks great so far Jim.....really nice work!
  16. hello Nenad......good to see your still working on the small boats...the gig looks really good. thanks for sharing more of the Serbian countryside.....take a trip and never leave the farm! did you sift through all that stuff for modeling material?
  17. so sorry to have missed you again! ....and I missed your birthday as well......happy belated birthday to you. so cool that we have the same birth month...my birthday is today you've made some stunning progress on the Tulpijn....can't wait to see more.
  18. truly remarkable planking......really neat how you jogged and scarfed the planking. a good finish afterwards will bring out the grain...gonna be good
  19. yes Bob....I did get a chuckle. you may find that other known vessels can be built from this kit. I didn't like those rings at all.......1:96 blocks are slightly out of scale, but they do work reasonably well. back in the day, older and now defunct companies sold their molds......I believe this to be an old Pyro kit. Lindberg models used to be called O-Lin. here is an interesting article....there are others here that might be of interest as well. http://www.oldmodelkits.com/blog/plastic-model-kit-history/the-kits-of-pyro-plastic-company-an-illustrated-guide/ the kit does have it's drawbacks, but to me, it's hit or miss to find the perfect kit. heck.....I'm even using a couple of the cannons for my Thermopylae project...close enough to scale for me enjoy when you get to it. thanks for the good word. thank you Lawrence! having a bit of a bout with aches and pains.....but I'm still stand'in I only have the anchors left to do on the model.....I may have to skimp a little. I had drilled hawse holes....not in the correct place, so I will have to live with it. thanks for the good word and birthday wishes
