Rick, Make that "copy,paste, and save". Just so you don't lose it. And another old IT guy question: You're trying to upload .jpg or .jpeg photos and not .tif or something else? Try a test post of one pic...

83mm? That's about 3.5 inches. I'm not finding anything that big at all the normal places.. like BJ, ME, Cornwall, etc. Those might have to be total scratch made which means a master and casting would be the best way.

Rick, Make a copy of your post (in Word or Wordpad if using Windows) before hittin REPLY. Now here's somethings to check: picture file size, image size, and the number of images being added. Adrieke has some good questions also, If you can give more info, we can try help. Another typical old IT guy type of question... When did you last reboot? Is the OS up to date with patches and updates?

Thanks everyone for the nice comments and likes. Ron (and anyone else interested), She's 28 inches (711mm if I did my math right) long currently from stem to stern. Sjors, I'll keep doing pictures as I go... :D I guess things will get interesting when I cut out the X's. Probably not treasure, though.

Shihawk, There's different language versions available and I think French is the default.. so make sure your order specifies the language you want.

John, One of our credos is "nautical related"... we even have cross-stitch here. Feel free to post your Connie in General Discussion for now, and if we find a better place, we'll move it. If it's intended to be a half-hull, then post it in Scratch Builds.

Thanks Grant, John, John, and Sam. Honey-do's are almost complete..... I hope. Sam, I've heard of it but only one time. If the planking wants to "unbend", there's really nothing to stop it. And the chain wale is the one at the top of the ports that chainplates anchor to... yes.. you're correct.

I've found that zu Mondfeld's Historic Ship Models gives a pretty good overview. However, for many details, it's not error-free. Still, it's a rather inexpensive reference work for those getting started. Also, Lavery's Arming and Fitting of English Ships of War is very definitive.

For those interested, look at some of Hahn's work and most of Frolich's works. (Frolich's work here: http://modelisme.arsenal.free.fr/artdumodelisme/indexgb.html) They do the "paint with wood" masterfully and I wish I had those skills.. maybe someday. What they will do, if the plank changes color due to paint, they carefully fit wood in of the the color needed. Usually ebony and either boxwood or pear, depending on who's work you're looking at. I'm just in awe of that kind of work. Frolich even does it on masts.

Matti, Mine build is bone stock... from the box with just different planking and some rigging changes. I was too far gone on her by the time I found DDM (before there was an MSW.

Hi John, I should have mentioned this earlier... what's legal? Whatever you want. And the glue and sawdust is used by most everyone for filler. What Ian suggested about contacting Arthur (AEW - screenname). Very few of us have built this ship and I'm not one of them....

While I like that idea because I have bits and pieces of plans, etc. under my build bench using a similar method, don't you miss having them hanging from the walls? As inspiration? or... a reminder? -
No pressure on this site, is there? I'm going to bow to pressure, even though it's against my better judgement. I guess don't want Sjors to hit me up for piccy's. Here she sits with various implements of destruction lying about... The black square is where the broken frame was. Still have a lot of sanding and some re-working of joints before I cut gunports and lay in the ebony wales. The black X's, in case you're wondering, are for the frames I can remove after the chain wale goes on. A top rail fits in there. I'm thinking about removing those early just in case she decides to implode/explode/self-destruct when I start removing the build board down the road.

Masting looks pretty darn good. Very well done, in fact. How short are they? it might be better to pin a piece of dowel to the end.
