SBD-3 Dauntless 1:48 Hasegawa - Edwardkenway-FINISHED

Recommended Posts

What you need to do Edward is build a box that the plane sits in and paint the insides to look like the lower hanger deck of an aircraft carrier with the plane sitting on the elevator. Then make the outside of the box look all flowery. Then you can sit the box in the house and every now and then open the lid and up pops the plane on the elevator. She gets her pretty and you get to see your nice build a little more often.:D

Mine hangs from the floor joists over one corner of the workbench in my basement, right next to the other large aircraft.

Wow, that looks great! Great job! I’m looking forward to whatever you choose next (but please don’t neglect your ships too much I really want to see that Triton and Winchelsea come to light 😉).

Thanks, must admit I've stalled on Triton as I need some more wood but can't get it as the budget won't allow. As for Winchelsea I'm still fairing the hull and it is a BIG hull😲

Too clean. Interesting bird, though. I'd guess maybe a 1/72 or 1/144. Will need a lot of space to display.

From guys who intercepted these a/c, the turbo-props were loud, so our guys would take pictures and leave them be, if possible.

Trumpeter does the Bear in 1:72, but the kit is a pig. It can be done to look quite well, but it takes a lot of work to get it there. Poorly fitting and lacks important detail. Then there is an old DML kit of it in 1:144. Don't know how good or bad that kit might be.

Do a Youtube search for Flory Models where he does the 1:72 Trumpeter kit. His video might be there. I have seen it on his paid subscriber site, but it may be available for free on YT.

Ta matem  had assumed from the pics posted  - someone was considering building one,   never seen a kit  but have seen the actual plane up close at airshows in the very very distant past.
