This is a lovely little kit, with extra tanks, landing craft and other stuff, very little of which I will use. My plan is change the title of this build several times, as there will be 3 IJN subs, barges and a Submarine tender, the Heinan Maru. This is the first part of the build .

Very simple build, needs a bit of putty as the alignment is not perfect. 4FE1C465-6087-4EE4-9C49-59DE10FCC785.thumb.jpeg.aeddf2dc43f90d251068f269eb2b65c5.jpeg

as you can see from the photo, the inner walls  have support struts which I’ve done in plastic strip.BFD91657-D24B-40FE-BB0C-BA0E314C3E59.thumb.jpeg.22a06d6e04b33fc0fb88fd57bf551b23.jpegF933B214-D051-4B7C-8869-E12231D2B2D8.jpeg.2a4f7e807fd87f3ab6ad34a3c703dc91.jpeg

finally, and I have no idea why this was not done, the stern has an anchor which has a angled slope for the anchor stock, (I expect it’s for dragging it off beaches. 41691544-5737-447E-A85F-A03881CB36FC.thumb.jpeg.4b294806daf5c090913a50c5ce15a411.jpegD960B9EB-98F4-4DB0-99BE-0B7DF0465FE6.jpeg.580cec4d910955f5f860fd8eb572f395.jpeg4CDEB318-9593-4AB9-9EB5-3181ACF69593.thumb.jpeg.8cda6d4a17bb4e8b33c922480c6a1a83.jpeg

I believe you are right about the anchor "sloop".  Worked like what everyone else did for landing craft... drop the anchor on the run in and they use it winch of the beach.

The bridge! The kit basically has a blob which does not make sense.

There a PE set for the boat or are you using some ladder stock?  Whatever you did, it looks good. 😄

So today; the lower hull is done, and I’ll grunge it up afterwards. Lots of dark brown which I’ve sealed in with a matte coat so I can use chipping fluid afterwards. Then the wooden deck, using a few difference buff coats, again the weathering will come last. Masking done, I’ll do the decks first and just brushed in some chipping fluid, once it’s dry I’ll paint them chip Beattie moving to the Hull and and do some oilcanning. Then destroy it with chipping.

So I grunged up the lower hull and added a blue filter. I think I’ll add some more scratches and obviously a lot more rust on the hull yet before moving onto the topside.

I’ve discovered some new wood filters from AK for the deck which are just great to work with
