  1. Thanks Mike. I have too say, it is tempting. I'm getting another boat this weekend (I know, I have too many kits at this point) to add to the stash. I think the only things keeping me from starting multiple builds are the clutter on my work table and my urge to finish the boat I started back in 2015 ! I haven't heard of your other two builds. Where are the other build logs? You make me feel like I'm missing something. The two build logs you have are looking very nice. It shouldn't be too long until you finish one of them, as you have started doing the rigging on your Niagara. By the way, thanks for looking in. I'm hesitant to update my log before I at least get the main boom finished and rigged, but I will update once it is. Have a good day!
  2. Looking nice Mike! I look forward to seeing how you do the planking! Are you going to switch the wood of a plank or strake when it hits a different colored area? It seems you would have to get a really nice joint to make it look like one plank in two colors. Good luck !
  3. Very nice and neat rigging as usual, Bob! I like it!
  4. Thank you very much everybody . You make me blush . Mike, the gunboat Philidelphia is up next. Good to have had you along, there's a little more to go.
  5. Hello again! My boat is now a year old! I got it yesterday one year ago. I have finished the masts and have started work on the stays. Here are the pictures. Until next time!
  6. Very nice progress Mark! I hope she doesn't get topheavy with the planes on .
  7. Count me in! I get a front row seat for once !
  8. Bob, nice job on the rigging! How do you strop your blocks, especially the ones attached to the mast? They are very neatly done. Too neatly done…… :D.
  9. Very nice job with the rigging! She is looking fantastic! I'm glad to see you're back!
  10. Wow! You are doing a fantastic job with these deck fittings! Excellent job! She looks very realistic!
  11. She is looking very nice! How do you prepare your blocks? That meaning how do you get the hooks on them, strop them, and attach them to a point?
  12. Thank you Mike! Good question, I don't know where to display it, but I do have a couple of ideas. Either on a bookshelf or……, see I'm not sure yet ! I will have to look at the forum for displaying models in the home, which is a very good thread. Thanks for visiting!
  13. If water was in the background and so was the sky, I would swear those pictures were of a real ship! Marvelous job!
  14. Very nice work Patrick! She looks great on the water! Too bad she won't float when you're done, though I personaly wouldn't float any model of mine unless it was rc, I'd be too scared !
  15. Thank you everyone ! Sometimes it feels like I'm almost there, then I look at all the stuff I have left to do and I change my mind !
  16. Hello again! It feels like a while since I last updated. I had a while where I couldn't fit much if any build time in anywhere. Now, though, I have finished the bowsprit rigging and have started work on the fore mast. The rigging was done with the fittings unpainted and I painted them afterwards. That way the paint didn't peel or rub off while I got the lines on. It is not perfect, buy I think by the last line I kind of had the hang of it (pun intended ). After painting, I hand tapered the lower fore mast. I used my squishy sanding block from say back when I was sanding my hull. I filed the notch on the top for the last cap and glued it in. I then added the 'iron' bands on which are made of striping tape. I also glued in the eyebolts. The mast is stained, but the painted parts will be painted after all the structural work is complete. Anyway, here are the pictures! Until next time!
