Sterling went out of business some time way back. I have two of there USS Missouri kits. One I got from eBay and the other I bought through the Club I belong to in CT. -
That is why the old saying "You get what you pay for" is very true. If you want a tool that is top of the line and that will last and do the job right it is going to cost. But if try and get away with getting something cheap you usually almost end up paying twice of what the good one would have cost in the first place. Don't ask me how I know, just Please take my word for it. And yes I love tools also.

Tony, Your doing a nice job, and like the rest of us you are learning from the mistakes we all make. You can always make it better because of what you have learn that is the beautiful thing about this hobby with wood "You can always re-do what you did". I like your workshop setup, very nice.

Geoff, I like this idea. I think you will make lest work for yourself then doing it the other way, hopefully no broken parts no mess. Keep us posted with the pictures as you move along.

Thank you very much for the walk through and showing us what the program can and like you said can't do. It would be nice if it could do everything that way a person doesn't have to use more than one program. But it does seem to do an excellent job. Thanks.

I also have both, and yes the metal one is harder to use then the plastic. I use the plastic one more and more. Wish someone made a smaller size one, but they all seem to be the same size. A good tool that can be use for a great deal of work.

Danny, If you can't fix the copper plates you could maybe look into getting them from somewhere else. Just a though.

Bill, Let us know what happen with your test. I like the idea but never heard of anyone baking it. So now you gut my attention and I would like to know what happens. Pictures would also be nice. -
Jerry, You have the skill and friends here will help as best that they can, why not give it a try. A little at a time, one line here and then another there. So what it takes you 5 days just to do one or two lines, that's one or two lines lest that you have to do. This is only my option and it is up to you since you are the one building her. Either way I wish you the best and she is a nice ship the work you have put into her is Beautiful.

Dam Rusty, Andy came up with a good question about the recoil. I can only think of how it must of felt like with they fire the gun. It must have move in the water big time, glad I wasn't on board LOL.

Don9of11, I agree with you 100% about Norton, AVG and McAfee. I think they are a joke, been into computers to long not to know. I also use Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes for the last few years and have had no problems with Virus and malware But this is just my option, everyone has there own choice and what works for them doesn't always mean it will work for you. As far as Soildworks, I love it, hard to learn but it is dam good. But that is also my option. -
The detail in that picture will drive you nuts, but it will be up to you. Keep the pictures coming.

Which Kevin was nice and a friend to send to me. When I start it I will do a log, I am thinking about making the kit but also making one in brass and aluminum. For now it is just a thought, but since a lot of people ask as to what a person can do with a milling machine figure I could show that anything you can think of can be done in a small scale. Anyone have any thoughts about this? Also I am not trying to hack Kevin tread by asking this, so if it all right with Kevin that I ask I will not delete this post but I will be starting one soon.
