  1. Out of curiosity, where were you able to find a plan for a Galleass? I would very much like to be able to build one. Thank you very much.
  2. I carved my own for my 1:98 Mantua Victory. My log is in the kit build section if you would like to see my methods.
  3. The model is looking good! Sorry about the thumb, it happens to all of us at some point or another.
  4. Ditto. Still planning to build the Winchelsea. Still backed up a couple of models. Winchelsea will be a fun build.
  5. When I get done with Hannah, I really need to add scuppers. I just realized that I forgot them on this model, which is not okay, given the amount of detail that I have attempted (and succeeded with) so far. I added them to the Prince de Neufchatel and the Hannah, but not this one. Considering the Victory will be the flagship of my collection until I build something better, I owe it to myself to put forth maximum effort and exert maximum skill on this.
  6. I like to add as much detail as I can. It helps me to challenge myself. Sometimes it adds to the model, sometimes it does not. But the point of a model, for me, is to try for photorealism. I like to make my models look well used, to include wear, possibly some damage depending on the subject and weathering, and like they are in use. However, I used to be a wargamer and I tend to treat my ships (most models actually) like gigantic wargaming miniatures. One of the goals of my Hannah build is to try and make crew figures to really bring it to life. I would like to do the same for my Victory. When I get around to building Winchelsea, I would like to build it as if it were at sea, fully weathered, under sail, with a full crew. Hopefully, I will be better at it at that point.
  7. Thank you all very much for stopping by, and the likes! The shroud cleats are painted black and installed: The spars, booms and gaffs are painted. They need some touch ups and a highlight coat. After that, I can install blocks and foot ropes. Next up, I need to attach rigging blocks to the eyebolts on the deck.
  8. I personally like scalpel blades. An X-Acto blade usually dulls out on me within a couple hours of carving/shaping. Excel brand blades/handles are better than X-Acto. They are sharper and last longer. I can use one of those blades for a day, maybe two, before it dulls out. I LOVE scalpels. They are super sharp and I can build for a week before I need to replace a blade.
  9. I have my shroud cleats from Syren now and I have time to work on my model. These are very nice: Time to paint them black and install them.
