  1. now that I see the second picture of the mesh......I see what your saying. can you press it in your fingers or something? hope you can fix it......it really looks good! your doing a super job with the boom.......the whole apparatus looks sweet!
  2. is the Half Moon in an eclipse? it's a question on all of our lips. have you progressed, with the way that she's dressed......let's see the belle of all ships
  3. well Lawrence.......with the scratch builds, the work area IS the parts inventory but, with the kit builds, I have all the parts in boot boxes {the original boxes are much too large}. when I want to work on a particular build, I just pull the box out and have a go. the instructions have the part lists, so I'm not too worried about the strip stock.....I can find the wood sizes there. I also tend to bash my builds a bit........I stick somewhat with the plans, but I may alter things here and there, and that may change the size of the wood I use. I'm working towards an update......soon, I hope. thanks for looking in
  4. you've made some great progress Bob! the frame looks very good......your having fun planking...
  5. the hull looks super Nenad........she's really taking on the looks of the Cutty! I still like the wood color you've done......a weathered look, as one might have seen back in the day, when she was owned by the Portuguese. splendid work!
  6. super additions to the helm deck Tom.........whether you try your hand, or simply paint the eagle gold, I think it will look perfect
  7. the coning tower is filling in nicely........your doing a super job of it. I remember when I lived in Deland / Lake Mac, they had the citrus freeze.....think it was back in '76. did you live down there then? how is everything faring down there........it's been anything but normal all over.
  8. the progress of your build looks great! glad to see your finding time that's a neat way to make gun ports........I'll have to keep it in mind when making port holes.........{we all have our uses :D for ideas}
  9. nice work on the tree nailing Augie......it really dresses her up ! hull's looking better and better with every time you caress her!
  10. some pictures................eye candy.....YUM!!! looks really sweet Mobbsie. you starting to make me feel bad...I don't even have my main shrouds done yet........I'm a baaaaaddddd boy!
  11. looking really good John........masting is coming along well.....good to see. I look in the clearance areas at Hobby Lobby......I as well picked up some brass sheeting, and some simulated aluminum siding. I got to make my way back there soon......I remembered that they also sell the small bottles of lacquer that I use. I still have some Christmas money left
  12. the deck planking looks very good Dragzz....I like the wood texture. wish I could be of help with the gun ports
  13. hope you had a good holiday yourself Daniel. you think as I do........fun is where you find it
  14. doesn't look like you'll need to use very much filler........just sand your contours and go with it. I like the thin strip as well.......it behaves well and very easy to cut tapers.
  15. very nice Ron........never saw a stern built up like that........interesting good luck with the sanding
  16. you've so far built a really nice looking ship......if you were to do any staining, you would to have done so, while you were building it. a clear varnish would be good.......but there are some other alternatives as well. you could also use a urethane, or a poly urethane. both good and can also be purchased in a spray can. there are some out there as well, that have a wood stain tint mixed in....but you would have to mask up the painted areas to use it. I use a semi gloss lacquer, and I spray it using my airbrush. this gives a harder finish than the other types of sealer. I've done as many as three coats.......even then, there is nothing glossy about it. the choice is yours very well done ..........don't be too worried about rigging. once you've done a few shrouds, I think you will find it enjoyable
  17. thanks Ron......I hope you had a wonderful holiday as well yes, I hope to get back on the crazy train, and go full throttle! I was told that I would have the SUV back soon......very tired of this one car crap! enjoy my friend!
  18. sometimes filing the slots larger might not be the best way to go. since you intend to plank the platform anyway, perhaps simply cutting it in halves might be better.
  19. I can see why your husband took the pictures.........your busy!! such beauty.........sad to see it covered up, but it will be lit and all can peer in to see. you are such a gifted artist....I can add nothing more than everyone else has. I just wish I had 1/10th of your talent.....but then there would be copyright issues........and then the lawyers........and the paperwork! to Bodge with all that!!!! :D they say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder...........to be the beholder of such beauty, you truly have the 'eye' for it.
  20. what the heck are you using.........old barn boards?! looks awesome........I love the effect!
