I saw your comment on the Ark issue.........I didn't want to give you the impression, that I had the impression, and make you think, that I thought, that you were making an Ark. besides........I didn't see any animals! ........only two............only two :D very nice progress........very nice detail done on the doors I tried to make molding like that with a different approach......with the use of sand paper {I have pictures of this somewhere} .....very time consuming, I can tell you that! I have an old Ambroid kit of an HO train, and in the kit, is this very nice scribed molding. Ambroid was very well known for different types of milled wood. today, the company has changed hands {Northeastern scale models} ......they now only do structures and doll house supplies. I'm sure Andy knows of a good outlet for specially milled wood -
3mm........yea, that is a bit thick to me........the planking I use is around 1.8mm. this has been the norm for all of my builds. it'll give you a lot of lee-way with sanding......that's a big plus!

hmmmmmm.......so, they weren't concerned with scratching the bore. considering how accurate they were........rifling the bore didn't come into play until much later in the munition's race.......cannons were more accurate than their cousins, the mortar.

when you get to the point of installing the decking.......I hope your going to save all those cast offs..........they look too good not to. you might find a use for them somewhere

you two gentlemen are really slaving away here..........some very good research and development here if your going to be cutting these pieces out of flat stock, it can be done much easier by using strip stock. I'm sure that evergreen or plastruct sells 1 mm strip stock.....the hobby store that I go to has a huge plastruct display..........they carry it.

what comes to mind here...is all the little things that can get over looked. you certainly fill in the gaps I'm certain that this would not be left this way........would they tie cloth or burlap over this to create a swab? I also would think that an oil would come into play here as well.....would it then also be dipped into a bucket to give lubrication?

the deck can be done after the bulwark planking......to make it easier, I make waterway strips to follow the bulwarks and notch them to fit the posts. I want to change it up the next time I do this with nibbing the bow planks. the only problem with waiting to do the bulwarks, is the hull might be thicker that the bulwark planking. you'll need to sand anyway.......but you might have to do more to match them up. I find it better to look at what would be easier, rather than save time. it can be done either way.........just be sure that the lip of the hull will mate well with the first bulwark plank. looking great so far Adam........keep up the good work

I have a brother-in-law who lives in Plano, Texas........my god......you folks are looking at a freeze warning tonight! when I was younger, we'd see snow by now........now-a-days it's not unusual to see staying snow around December or January! this year, I think it's going to be different....we might see it before Thanksgiving. there has already been a snow belt, that reached all the way down to Georgia, but never came up to us. you did a sweet job there! as you fit out the deck, it's going to enhance it all the more..........it will be interesting to see where you go next

hmmmmmm......so what are you doing.........'Bash Masterson'...........got a little something you wanna add to the structures? in seeing your first set of pictures, I would have cautioned you about making sure that both structures were even with each other......the beams looked a bit off. but, seeing the second set of pictures...I don't see it. just another example of the camera seeing more than the human eye is willing to admit. have you done any sanding, so the roof will sit flush? I would do a real light sanding.........keeping with the arch, so that when the roof is in place, it will sit level to the arch........no gaps. it looks super...........this is really going to make the wheel/tiller assembly, the center point of detail..........but you want to make sure that the roof is going to sit flush and even on the structures. your really moving along..........now that your home...........bet it feels great

so.......sanding away laser burn marks wasn't good enough for you.....huh! :D I should look into a plank bender......the home made contraption I use is OK........but it sometimes doesn't give me the shape I need. I still have to stress them at times your planking looks great......look forward in seeing more

yea....take your time with this......it one of the hard parts you hear tell of. your doing well in shaping the contour of the hull. I use one of those dry wall sanding blocks.......not just because it has a handle, but because it spans over three ribs at any given time.
