  1. Doğan, Please use Google and translate into English. This is an English forum.
  2. Welcome back, Paul. Nice to see your Scharnhorst again. That is one nifty workbench.....
  3. Nice work, Klaus. Pear is one of those woods that's a real joy to work with.
  4. Thanks for the support and the likes... Minor milestone... took the big pieces of wood and made about 850 small pieces of wood. Oh... and sawdust. I've closed the sawpits for now and the pieces have been sent to the yard for gluing up into frame blanks and then cutting into frames. Here's pics... and for those who wanted it.. a picture of (naturally) the sawdust from cutting the pieces. Hopefully, I didn't mis-count but I still have some "big" pieces left just in case. Now where did I stash that really large bottle of glue??
  5. Mike, You are being hard on yourself, as Floyd says. You've done a beautiful job and also, part of the charm and joy of wood is the imperfections. You might give some thought to a sanding sealer before the final sanding and and then painting. However, even then, there's no guarantees because it's wood and it sometimes has a mind of its own.
  6. Outside of scanning and redrawing the images, I can't think of any copy method that won't make the lines thicker. I don't know of anyone who sells the plans. You might try contacting AL (use Google Translate and put in both English and Spanish. Also, check on EBay... you might find a kit that's dirt cheap with the plans. It's possible that someone here has finished the kit and can send you the plans.
  7. ah... got it. I thought maybe the motor was a "normal" (whatever the heck that is) run of the mill type with variable speed down to very slow.
  8. Jay, Actually, he has... as well as Matti (Nazgul). I think there's one more going to that level of detail.... Yes.. they are cool B)
  9. Al, I would think that for a cannon, chuck the wood into the mill chuck. Mount your tool on the table. You'll have a cockeyed lathe but it should work depending on the vertical range of travel of the mill chuck. There are some here who have done cannons on a drill press. It would just be a matter of sorting out the head movement and table movement with lathe cutter attached to it.
  10. Chris, I've only heard about them.. both good and bad. I've not used them. I was thinking when my stock drops to order some just to test.
  11. Looking good, Raymond. I'm not sure the barrels would have stored on top of the platforms. Everything I've seen shows them laying on their sides in the main area of the hold surrounded in gravel ballast. I'm one who likes scale figures in shipbuilding. It not only gives you a reference to size of the ship but also to the "fiddly bits" such as pumps, pin rails, ladders, etc. Lovely work.
  12. ZyXuz, It's good to see you back and with good news about your father. I like the doors under the forecastle, though I'm pretty sure, there never were any. On the other hand, it dresses up the forecastle nicely.
  13. That surface looks just about right for a cast iron cannon, IMO. Nice work.
  14. Congratulations on finishing and making one fantastic model. The crew is the icing on that cake... even more alive with them. Thanks for letting us follow along.
  15. Great looking crows feet, Mobbsie. I'll have to bookmark yours and couple of other logs for the "crows feet standard of excellance".
  16. Looking good, Sjors. I think Frank's got it... "when in the Netherlands, do as Sjors does". Just don't turn the Fonz upside down to rig her, ok?
  17. Bob, I can't add to what everyone else said... It just flat looks fantastic.
  18. The whole lot, John???? Sheesh... you don't want much. :D Sam, amen... This seriously the best wood I've ever received. Perfectly dimensioned from end to end and smooth enough I can leave the sander in the closet. And yes, it's happy dance time. Frolick, it is indeed. It's a wealth of information but I have to sift through it since it's actually later than Licorne, even though the rigging is same (according to Hahn). There's also some good details that didn't change much that I'll incorporate.
  19. Sweet work on the bollards. Even partials aren't that easy and you did them well.
  20. Your Yamato is looking very nice. Crisp, clean and sharp. I can't read Czech, but the pictures say it all.
  21. Christmas in April!!! Wood has arrived from Jeff at Hobbymill. Wonderful wood and it's perfectly dimensioned. I'm plotting out the frame blanks and hope to start making sawdust later this evening. Time to start getting this build back on the road.... err... building slip. The wood isn't warped, the camera is having issues. I think it was the setting I choose.
  22. Or... maybe events from other navies?????
