  1. Thanks for reposting your log, Aykutansin. Beautiful work and some wonderful contrast on the wood selection.
  2. Daniel, For my cross-section: boxwood for the frames, cherry for the hull planks. Deck was basswood. Ebony was used for the wales, false keel, and keelson. For my Licorne, horse of a different color since I needed a lot more wood. Framing: cherry. Hull planking: Swiss Pear with plum to be used topside. Decks: maple. Furniture: pear (not swiss, but plain pear). Beech, walnut, for assorted bits and pieces and holly for the figurehead. The problem you have is that here in the States, we have some different woods. For example, I'm not sure maple is available where your are. You might goto the The Lumberyard's site. He has a section on woods with their colors and what they work well for. There might some things you like that are available to you.
  3. Larry, Way to go!!! I've yet to be able to wrap my head around doing those steps which may be why I'm using Hahn's plans. Your way seems pretty bullet-proof.
  4. Scott, Why worry about the planking tutorial? You glassed it perfectly. A fitting tribute, I my opinion.
  5. Looks super nice, Danny. I think the next order of business is to design the "Druxey Challenge Cup". Maybe something at 1:48?
  6. Stuart, By all means start a build long. That ship should generate a lot of interest.
  7. Danny, we have malt in the States... powered form for milkshakes and ice cream and chocolate malt balls which are candy.. yep.... yummy.
  8. I guess Remco will now have to "catch up" to you? I think you rose to the "Druxey Challenge" and exceeded it .
  9. Michael, Super nice windlass. Is there anything on this model that won't work?
  10. Thanks for the tutorial, Mark. You've made some beautiful gratings and coamings.
  11. Great work, Augie. Now you can take the outboard motor off and use a proper propulsion system for brig. That is some seriously nice work on the yards. Enjoy the snowfall... I guess shoveling it is next?
  12. Grant, It's great to hear you're getting better. As Aldo says, alcohol is a great disinfectant.
  13. Alexandru, Thanks for posting this. It shows us mere mortals that even what we perceive as major errors can be fixed.
  14. Big models need big ideas to solve the problems. One of scale. You solved it in spades with that noodle idea. Oh.. and your daughter takes good pictures.
  15. Very nicely done... no gaps, clean, precise, sharp. Hmmm... out of words. Great job, Rusty!!
  16. Al, It's great re-visiting your log. Just a good as the first time around.
  17. Micklen, Here's a post on how to add more than one pic per post: http://modelshipworld.com/index.php?/topic/540-how-to-add-pictures-in-your-posts-and-pms/
  18. The first pic caused me to do a double-take, Kevin. Thought I was seeing the real thing you were comparing it to. Nice work, indeed.
  19. Lami, It's great to see this build come back. I'm looking forward to following it again.
  20. Wonderful carving. He looks great!! I agree with Steve, you shouldn't have a whole lot of problems with the ornamentation.
  21. Giorgio, Your English is fine and atrial fibrillation is also English.. I'm happy to hear that everything seems to be ok. Your work on the deck furniture is inspiring.
  22. Rebecca, I'm not sure if those are actually the capstan bars. Some models they are, in others, they're permanently attached to the deck to give the crew using the capstan some foot hold. IMO, it's just artistic license for them to be there.
  23. I'm just too stunned...? amazed..? to say more than "WOW!"
