Oh man, I can't 'like' that. I feel for you.

Me too. That is quite the setback especially as your finish was looking so good.

It was a bit frustrating, but not a big deal, nothing a bit of elbow grease, sand paper and finishing resin couldnt fix. I spent a few days correcting the problem. I have learned by trial and error to check the weather forecast to make sure the humidity is low, like below 50%, if the humidity is too high, the resin will not properly cure and the finish will remain tacky, now that is a big pain in the rear.

I have the boot strping on, bottom painted and getting started on installing the running hardware and drive train. So the build is slowly coming to an end. I only have a small window to work on my projects since we are babysitting our two year old 24/7 for the past three weeks.

I used the supplied diagram to drill out the holes for the windshield brackets and also installed some of the deck hardware. I think the hardest part of this entire build is going to be fitting the windshields front and back. They are not perfect fits and will need to be down sized slightly and trimmed to fit properly. The old saying applies here, "you can always take away, but you can never add to" is the rule of thumb to follow here. Wish me luck.

Thanks CD & Chris, It was a pleasure to get the opportunity to build it. I had been looking at the Typhoon for some time and I didn't know if I would ever get the chance to build one. I just hope I did her justice.

The biggest issue I saw from the git go were those windshields and they didn't disappoint in that aspect. I even made templates of the windshields front and rear before I did any work to them just in case I messed them up. I consider myself an average modeler at best. I think everyone should know their limitations and I'm fully aware of mine hahahahaha. Fortunately I didn't need the templates to make new windshields.

The Typhoon will be going to a fellow in up state New York. The same fellow that received the 1930 mahogany runabout named Ratlin Rita that I finished late last year. Even though im not thrilled with the design of the Typhoon, i will still hate to see it go. It kind of grew on me while i was finishing up the build.

The Typhoon is quickly coming to an end, a few things to tidy up, install the windshields and such. I will be a bit saddened to see her go. It is turning out to be a beautiful boat eventhough I don't particularly like the design.

Not only is this boat classically gorgeous, she's unusual as well and that only and to her charm. I was always intrigued by those kinds of ladies! Is she watertight and fully RC ready?

What a lovely craft and you have really done her proud.

Having just read your entire review of the kit with your excellent pics, I really wanted to build a similar craft, just for the joy of it.

I ordered the last one they had at Great Hobbies and received it yesterday. Apart from some parts getting a bit mangled due to very poor packaging; the kit offers much potential. I have a standing commission from a regular customer to build a boat, with the remit of "surprise me".

He wants something that he can put on a shelf and that can also be ran at his cottage in the Kawartha lakes area.

I had pondered on large high speed coast guard vessels, PT boats, Schnellboots and even the "Bluebird of Chelsea" on offer from a Chinese supplier.

A boat needs a good locale to set it off, the Typhoon will fit in perfectly where it will live.

I caught a glimpse of the Typhoon for the first time only last week in a Botham's auction catalog, which then lead me to the Dumas kit and your excellent building log.

I am not a specialist model boat builder, but rather a pro modeller that mainly does architectural models, historical replicas and transportation models, so I am rather pedantic when it comes to getting things just right.

I pride myself on a good job well done and many of the insights that you have shared are invaluable, and I thank you for them.

When finished, I'll post a few pics.
