Could be but have never read or seen anything about Captain Scarlet. Way after my days of watching Sci Fi probably.

I lost interest in it 50-55 years ago.... (I was 15yrs old) {chuckle}

Definitely some inspired model making there...

And, I never got to take a trip to Tracy Island....

I moved on from those programs around high school, mid 1960s. Still like good sci-fi movies, but stuff like Space Battleship Yamato and the Gundams was way too kid-like.

I'll still follow along for the pearls you pop out in this blog.

All through my school years, I religiously followed the space exploration program. Fictional Shows like Star Trek were an extension of the reality of space exploration. The cartoon-type sci fi shows never interested me at all. Star Wars was interesting to me right from the start.

This model is cast in the colors of our Belgian flag.
I didn't know we had such modern spacecraft in our arsenal 😇 🤣

Yep, Reality, (NASA in the 60's-70's) was much more exciting than any TV show..... Star Trek started a whole genre of human reality based science fiction and was must watch....

Star Wars, cemented that genre into a new universe of entertainment... (even though the money making aspects of it clearly take precedence now)

Reality themed phantasy.... The great literature of our times...

Roddenberry privately told friends that he was modeling Star Trek Original Series on Jonathan Swift's Gulliver's Travels, intending each episode to act on two levels: as a suspenseful adventure story and as a morality tale. Roddenberry stated: "[By creating] a new world with new rules, I could make statements about sex, religion, Vietnam, politics, and intercontinental missiles. Indeed, we did make them on Star Trek: we were sending messages and fortunately they all got by the network."

Dumb question time..... seems space fighters usually have wings (yeah, Tie Fighters don't),  The question is why?   As I recall, Star Trek, and maybe one or two others didn't either.

As for Roddenberry from the book that was out, he also called it "Wagon Train to the stars  and beyond" when he was pitching the idea to TV execs.   He also believed in "rational" for designs of other craft, ship systems, etc.  I think his only deference to Hollywood was the ladies costumes.... mini-skirts????  Really????

Maybe there is the idea they must operate within atmosphere as well as outside of it? Just a guess as I’ve never read what the real rationale was, if any. This ship has a lot of features of contemporary aircraft.

I began by removing parts from the sprues, cleaning them up then dry fitting to see where there might be fit issues and/or needs for filling and sanding. To my surprise the kit practically falls together with few, maybe even no issues at all. Heck, you could probably assemble the whole thing without any glue whatsoever. Even the color molded parts are engineered to replicate the model shown in the box art without any paint.

The kit gives the option of displaying the model in a flying simulation on a stand that’s provided in the kit, or as it may sit on a tarmac or within the hangar of a

mothership. If displayed in the latter configuration, the wings are built in a folded position as they are too tall extended and won’t allow the craft to sit on its landing gear. I intend to display mine flying, on its stand. My intention is the paint all the parts in their respective colors, assemble them with glue then add final details and weathering. This kit also includes a nice decal sheet.

Pretty sleek looking beast. All those prongs - sensor mounts? Designer had a heckuva imagination. Love it.

Looks really cool Craig.  In case you are interested, there is a Google Translate app you can get where you use your phone camera to view the text, and the translation will pop up.  Google Translate is really good with the European languages translations, a little less so with Asian languages but still pretty good.  I used it to translate some old Maru WWII ship reference books for some of the IJN ships I've been working on and it worked ok to at least give me an idea of what was being conveyed.  I used it also for some Gunze kit instructions as well and it was helpful.

Oh yeah! I forgot about that trick.

I've been having a few small issues with my PC lately. I built this PC rig somewhere around 8 or 10 years ago and used quality components throughout and it has served me well. Processor, motherboard, and RAM have held up well. Along the way I relaced the power supply and upgraded my video card, the video card only a year and a half ago. I decided to buy a new upgraded motherboard, processor, RAM, additional 2TB SSD, power supply and new RAM as the old was the previous generation DDR3 variety while things have moved to DDR4 today.

On Monday all my new parts had arrived, so I tore down the old and began assembling the new. After a few hours when it was all together, I tried to fire it up and nothing happened. I tried everything I knew to try and could not sort it out. Yesterday I decided it was time to take it all to a professional, and boy am I glad I did. Turns out that an old peripheral device, a card-reader, an interface that allows you to plug in and read SD cards, USB memory sticks and the like, had shorted out and burned out the new power supply.

Next time I'll save myself some aggravation and take it to a pro right off the bat. He really did a great job with the wire routing/cable management, and trouble shooting. I probably would not have diagnosed it myself in a month of Sundays. Man, this thing is fast and smooth as silk now. I'm getting upload and download speeds of better than 500MBPS. Before the upgrade I was chugging along around 90MBPS which isn't terrible but much lower speed than the fiber optic provider standard.
