good evening everyone

day 275 -17

been a definite slowdown on my updates, and a lack of following other builds, for which i apologise  im still here though, puppy training and where possible getting on with my build

i have a few redo;s but the foremast which is nearly complete, and i will give myself 2/10 for presentation

as for the puppy, he is coming on in leaps and bounds, mainly leaps, and the getting along with the older dog is getting much better

pup is not yet 4 months old yet and needs surgery to remove his bottom fangs as they have not grown correctly, and in doing so to help prevent the adult teeth doing the same

good evening everyone

day 291-19

its been a couple of weeks since my last update, real life has hindered the progress, lost central heating for nearly a week, the puppy has had a operation to remove his bottom fangs, but some progress has been made i will let the photos do the talking, but i am presently working forward to aft, and every now and the i will go and tie in some more ratlines,

loving this build, and have another @chris watton kits for Christmas " the Duchess of Kingston, amongst other non maritime kits

good evening everyone,

day 344-48

sorry about the pants photos, but now the freezer has moved out of the mancave, and its waining, so no wheelie bin, plus the mancave has had a bit of a sort out so i have to find somewhere to take the shots for tonight

spent some time tidying up the front end, but even tonight i see the spirit yard is not sitting right

i will label up a lot of the lines in the next day or so but today was sorting out the fore mast truss, i have to cut the lines to the jeers to do that, serves me right for not doing it in order (again)

horses still to be sorted, but in the right place

and lots of loose ends still

indy day 355 - 48

good evening everyone

appologies to anyone following my logs that this has not been so informative or descriptive, been a combination of puppy training, DIY, and taking advantage of building where i can rather than posting, saying why i haven't done anything lol

anyway good progress was made with the backstays and the jeer pendants lift stays etc, and although it took a while i got the truss pendants to look ok, a lost a couple of days when that broke and i had to remove the yard and do again

i will tomorrow try and do a line recognition photo, someone asked me to do one like i did with my Vic buildIMG_9024.thumb.JPG.aee46baf8ca89751baa51372bb84222e.JPGIMG_9025.thumb.JPG.d7b88d45b3e55a096868f2a36191f006.JPGIMG_9026.thumb.JPG.f8913ef2328caf2ca0cc68b83dfa12a0.JPGIMG_9027.thumb.JPG.fdf3b0dd6b93ddc385d234909f894fbf.JPGIMG_9028.thumb.JPG.75cb5745845b76ec498b572b0d38f983.JPGIMG_9029.thumb.JPG.93163b16c55478e35557b40ab5602665.JPGIMG_9031.thumb.JPG.a22f07b6f26e24ace4d77400bcf08c1d.JPGIMG_9034.thumb.JPG.31baa72b4e970dfec558622931851c63.JPGIMG_9035.thumb.JPG.bd7437e647611f6acb4d698a04a28b83.JPG

good morning everyone

day 359-48

i have never ever classed myself as a good modeler, messy/untidy, and lack of attention to detail spring to mind,  but i love the hobby, and the satisfaction of (i did that)

i also share my attempts with others that are interested, therefore  most of my posts are shared with two other forums Flory, and Locate and cement, formally All Scale Modeller) , and Facebook, in the forums which are mainly plastic i have been asked to detail some of the rigging lines, so here goes,

main yard/spar

with all blocks and lines ready to fit, the mast and spar have been drilled and pinned

IMG_9114.thumb.JPG.9e1d2064b430ee6c096a6befeebdced6.JPG

the pinning allows the spar to be placed intro position, and ease handingIMG_9115.thumb.JPG.3f84c6cdf10db6f6c636affa594ac107.JPG

the spar is support by large blocks called Jeers and  slings

IMG_9137.thumb.JPG.2cc607bb014cdf807607d2fa233b5d7b.JPG

IMG_9122.thumb.JPG.36d9b8762d3447f545d04c00ef8ee3ed.JPGIMG_9129.thumb.JPG.e66b9270b286337631f7ba9bd3036744.JPGIMG_9130.thumb.JPG.4604328e341175dfb082f5a4c173885c.JPG

to keep the main spar against the mast, a series of ropes called truss are used,  and the lines that keep them in place are called the truss pendant

IMG_9138.thumb.JPG.3f83830b97e842bdb91b5aa5fdd13e91.JPG

the line above it stops the slack in the line and is called the nave

the jeers and now laced upIMG_9132.thumb.JPG.2cb2e955aa9d8600f9fe6d6358f26d57.JPG

Good evening everyone

big lesson learnt

i didnt mess up, but i did try to go my own way on this build and work fwd to aft on the rigging, well im not clever enough for that, and lost my way, i will always remember the fact the sequence  of rigging is for a reason, nothing is lost or damaged, just looks a mess at present untill i catch up

IMG_9170.thumb.JPG.24523d861f0a6b7a7af5c8c80803618f.JPGIMG_9171.thumb.JPG.972c77eb7a43c1f861ec9937007bbe84.JPGIMG_9172.thumb.JPG.3354d3ab8ee5eda1eccf61a99436e085.JPGIMG_9173.thumb.JPG.62bdd13269424a92fdff483c22d6e6f8.JPGIMG_9174.thumb.JPG.078dd9862467909b9f7128f4898a99a0.JPGIMG_9175.thumb.JPG.357f64344ecd1a73250ca9b23931de64.JPGIMG_9176.thumb.JPG.48ec35aface9923e1d55c7dc1010de58.JPGIMG_9177.thumb.JPG.c37b270c993a416a703a2ec43c984d6d.JPGIMG_9178.thumb.JPG.41ac7ce8b4421a5441847ac409cd0bd8.JPGIMG_9179.thumb.JPG.ae42469dd5ab1fa18303d83cbfae321b.JPG

so i am back to plan 16 with just some upper ratlines to do, and then move onto 17 and progress the main and mizzen backstays

unfortunately i have put my indy on a short hold, here is the reason why, copied from one of my many FB Cocker Spaniel sites

Dobbie Pingate Periscope  Blogg Day 3159 aged 8 years 8 months

Two weeks ago during a referral ear infection check-up, I mentioned that the boi was a bit grumpy, and out of sorts, and I suggested it might be a flare up of his pancreatitis, the Vet  examined his tummy area  and suggested that it should be looked at again at his next visit, his ear infection had not improved so  another course of antibiotics and Metacam for his tummy problem

Two weeks passed and another vet visit Wednesday 3 April, took a fairly happy boi into the vets

What she felt previously had grown and it was decided to leave Dobbie in for a ultra sound, this detected a large mass on his spleen,

He was booked in for a general anaesthetic, Xrays and spleen removal yesterday, 4th April but a phone call after the x-rays confirmed the dreaded news that he had tumours throughout his body and classed as stage 4 cancer,

We have been given 3 to 6 weeks life expectancy 6 to 9 months with surgery and chemo

Dobbie is showing very little signs of being ill and that helped us with the decision we as a married couple made, that hardest decision was to cancel surgery and bring home our boi and let him enjoy his time with us

Perhaps not written very well, and maybe against many others’ views, I felt it was important to let others know what is happening, after all, a lot of members have been seeing posts of him for over 8 years now

Please don’t flood this blog with hate messages, the quality of life for a short period of time outweighs the slightly longer time he possibly could be given with all the surgery and drugs, we will let Dobbie enjoy his remaining time with us, and not allow him to  suffer

From a devastated Dobbie owner

Kevin, Ruth and puppy Apollo

i will of course return to my Indy when i can and feel up to it,

Who would send hate mail. You made the right and best decision. We love our dogs, taking our previous 17 year old beagle for that last trip is heartbreaking, no matter how right it is to do.
