There’s a very tasty MK1 design upgrade for it which is a lot more detailed than Infini Models. Keeping to my mantra of 3 per nation, as tempting as Yorktown is, Trumpeter have commissioned the box art for Langley in CV-1 from Randal Wilson (he does most of their box art, and displays his work on FB), which would mean it’s a kit I’d love to build asmy 3rd US ship. Graf Zeppelin would be my third German. I have no interest in Tirpitz etc as they’ve been done here already.

Very nice work Greg, you are showing  some excellent detail (and talent) with this model.

Those nets must have severely restricted ship's speed when deployed?

Well, nearly done, the final cables and pulleys added. I want to rust up the nets some more then I can add the final anchor, strip the plastic wrap and await my colleagues

the netting looks amazing Greg........are there weights along the bottom of the nets to keep them down?  I'm definitely glad I came in.......catching up is so sweet.  I certainly hope your sending pictures to the folks you got this kit from.......they might as well have their jaws on the floor too!  ;)

Well done! I have thoroughly enjoyed following your build and find your work second to none. You must have amazing eyesight to achieve that level of detail in that small a scale....I would be blinded if I attempted the same.

That is one very hard-worked ship Greg.  Your weathering techniques at scale show you have a lot of talent (and patience) n this field.  A very good looking model of a working-ship mate.

cheers

The entire model is an outstanding piece of work, but the way you figured out that torpedo net rigging then modeled it is most impressive. It's quite a maze of rope, cables, and pulleys.

What kind of Jedi mind tricks did you use to keep the net held in place while you lined it up and rigged it to the booms? That's clearly an alignment nightmare to overcome.

It’s very well engineered so as long as you use the template it holds very well.

I'll have to go back and re-read though this thread. I am unaware of a template that holds the net. My Pontos set did not come with anything like that, nor gave any indication of how it might be done. In any case, yours came out great.

Congratulations on a job well done on a very challenging and complex model Greg.

No mate, the drilling template, follow that.

Okay, now I know what you mean.

However, I was looking at your finished model and thinking how the rigging for your torpedo net booms might be very similar to what would have been found on the Mikasa I was working on. I temporarily stopped construction when it came to the torpedo net boom rigging because I had no idea how the booms were rigged. The Pontos set for my Mikasa did not come with a drilling template.
