I'm sure another masterpiece in the making.  I suspect that this would be a very disappointing kit without the PE given the extensive lattice structures.

I’ll put together the plastic blobs to compare

The Cv-1 upgrade has it (you can basically just use that set for the CV-3). The Eduard set covers off on some railings and the nets and stanchions for the flight deck with are so much better that the Trumpy stuff.

Nice work Greg, Noting how 'flimsy' these parts can be, you have done very well to avoid any distortions in the inner parts of each frame.  The completed (so far) set looks impressive.

cheers

Thanks but it’s pretty simple stuff, i won’t put people off, it’s quite easy so far. That’s not me being a smart ****, it goes together like any other plastic kit. I first timer Could do this .

Gives you a great appreciation for the conversion process undertaken by the Navy to build a usable aircraft carrier. The early tests with flying off decks fore and aft were oddities. This was one of the first truly functional ships.

All the latticework makes this model the poster child for using PE. This could end up being one of your most impressive builds Greg.

base red coat, i intend to let this sit for a while (OK I’m back to work), then paint it up properly as a faded hull then take to grunging it up. I imagine as this ship in the South Pacific, and particularly the warm bath that is Darwin harbour her lower hull would be quite a mess.  91F3649D-9940-4106-94E1-47C978A2282F.thumb.jpeg.3597d388bdab18f3b474dfaf827e8f5b.jpeg

Looking good Greg.  What glue do you use to hold down those large strips of brass?
