Thank you Mark! The idea for this jig is not mine. It is from Günter Bossong, really ingenious model builder:

Thanks so much, Alex, that was a very interesting article, and Google translate worked very well. I am also currently working on a jig for the cannon capsquares, and the article gave me a few things to think about.

Best wishes,

Mark

It's amazing how, with the planksheer and timberheads, the model suddenly looks more finished - even if it isn't! Lovely work there, Alex.

The next task is the bulkheads of cabins, so here the doors under construction. The door windows are done the same way as at the stern, but here I have glued wood strips at both sides of plastic sheet. The images show the making step by step.

Hi Larry,

they are frame and panel doors but thr panel is glued to frame, not really floating.

Making of deadeyes I have descvribed here:

Sorry, but I don't have photos of making the floor of a cabin. I have cut 5 x 5mm squares from pear and hornbeam planks, then glued them on thin plywood

Super work as always! Mortising rails for the timberheads accurately is painstaking work, but so much stronger than simply pegging the the timberheads to the rail.

Marvelous work Alex. I assume you are painting all those plankshear pieces off the model before installing. The black finish is nice. What are you using to achieve it?

Stunning work Alex! It looks like you used two different kinds of wood in your planking, what are they? The combination is just beautiful.

JJ, if you mean the underwater planking and above the whales then one is been oiled with linseed oil and another not. The wood I used is pear, castello box and hornbeam.
