Hi Larry, after all my review of the subject, I am wondering if anyone has seen a model of the HMS Queen Charlotte, the ship that Perry defeated in the Battle of Lake Erie? It culd be interesting to show the two together, or even a diorama????? Open to suggestions from the forum???? sorry to hijack your log if that is what happens. Unfortunately, I have been know to do that...lol.

Hi Lawrence, thanks for the info. I have been to Boston 4 times now, and The Constitution 3 times. Going back this time, and hope Henry will be available for a private tour. I like Boston and the area a lot also. Welcome aboard and hopefully soon I'll be doing some ship building.

Hi Patrick, you're welcome for the pictures. sorry to hear about the rerigging episode....mistakes can really eat on you, even though 98% of whoever looks at it wouldn't know the difference....we still do. Someone recently posted to remember the Captain is always right, and if the Captain ain't happy then no one is, so ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Good luck with it and I'm sure somewhere I'll have questions where your pictures of the real thing will be required.

Very nice build. -
Hi David.....I am so envious. I was in Erie last week and had to leave. We couldn't stay around for the re-enactment (found out too late). I think the ship had just left Green Bay to come to Erie for the event. Congrats on being part of the crew. I'll be following your log closely as this is my next build. I'm on my way to Boston to see the Constitution, then to Mystic to see the CW Morgana again. I have been on board each twice before, but now building the Morgan and just finished the Conny, so I'm looking forward to the tours. Great build on your model, thanks for all the pictures and hope to see more.

Hi Lawrence, yes getting damp, but I'll only be here another day, then down to Boston. Looks like snow in northern Ontario. Not ready for that though. We are really enjoying the cooler weather. It was 106 F yesterday at home. One thing nice about the east coast is lot's of sailing ships to see. Thanks for following along....trying to provide our European and Aussie friends with some views of our beautiful landscapes here.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
