  1. The Prince de Neufchatel now has teeth. The guns are glued in place. I also made the anchors (final painting is pending). These are my second set due to those scaling issues that I mentioned earlier. I had to reduce them in size to fit properly. I am going to install the anchors and have a gun rigging party. Due to some more scaling issues, rigging blocks are not going to fit, but I can still put the rigging in place, oh well.
  2. I have discovered some more scaling issues, which considering that I built from multiple sources, in hindsight, is to be expected. Oh well. Pressing on.
  3. I made the iron strapping for my cannons. I have also traced out the parts for the anchors.
  4. 18 mostly done cannon and carronades. They just need the iron strapping over the pivot point, dry brushed to make them look like iron and then sealed prior to installation.
  5. All 18 guns are now ready to paint. I added the eyebolts and the pivot points. I’m going to let everything dry and probably paint tomorrow.
  6. All 18 guns are now carved. It’s time to add a cascabel and eyebolt to each of them. Then I’ll add the pivot point to each of them and both the guns and the carriages will get painted.
  7. I’m up to 12 x 12 lb Carronades and 2 x 9 lb Long Guns: 2 more long 9’s and 2 long 12’s to go
  8. I’m still working on the Prince de Neufchatel. I’m in the process of making cannon and giving the Prince de Neufchatel some teeth. I’ve definitely learned a lot from the build. I’m still planning on scratch building the rest of the Victory. I’ve been through the AOTS for the Victory a number of times and I don’t see anything that looks too difficult with the exception of the figurehead, but I’ve been practicing my carving. We’ll see how it goes when I get back to the Victory.
  9. The first of the 9 lb. cannon: It’s far from perfect, but once it’s painted, it’ll be just fine. By the way, all guns are going to have glass seed beads glued to their breeches for cascabels along the getting the breech eyebolts for the breeching rope. The last picture is after I sanded it to clean it up a bit.
  10. I have a few pieces of cedar to use for the rest of the Victory’s carvings and for the Triton. I’ve learned a lot since running through the carving tutorials, but these were an excellent starting point.
