  1. Thanks JP.. I'll consider that idea. Russ & Mario, Thanks. I'm convinced clothespins are greatest tool we can have. I use them for a lot of things.
  2. Mario, That's some serious destruction there. When you say "improve your bowling".. will this involve a cat and 10-pin or a cat and bowling ball?
  3. Not a bad idea. Now if I can just modify the plans to reflect the stuck clamp and pass it off as a piece of 18th Century deck furniture. Or at the appropriate moment it will fly free and become... wait.. Schrödinger's cat comes to mind.. this is quantum physic's solution you're handing me.
  4. Russ, Sweet looking build. And the discussion and descriptions you're posting make it even better.
  5. Looks like Swiss Pear...???? You're off and flying. That looks really great. And so he mumbles.... "cut them by hand.... long way to go before taking on the title... indeed.. humpf"...
  6. Ron, Two place come to mind off the top of my head... ModelExpo and Bluejacket. I have no idea if they have the right size.
  7. I'll try that. I've also rubber cemented a bit of sandpaper to the jaws of two of my clamps where I need the clamp not to slip.
  8. For....????? Not sure what the answer is.. but I'll hold my breath anyway. If it's for the clamps, won't that impregnate the wood?
  9. Looks great. A very neat and well done build, Bob. I'm looking forward to seeing some more pictures of it.
  10. Pictures... that would be worth staying up all night and waiting for!!!!!!!
  11. Thanks John. Lady luck exclusively. I tried wax but the clamps got slippery.
  12. Thanks for looking in and nice comments guys. I only glue the plank to the beam. I don't edge glue and I use very small drops. Helps to keep things from bleeding. I did have one stick.. but the alky took care of that problem. Sjors, I don't remember where I got that idea. I've done the "flip the spring in the clothes pin/peg" ever since I did Wasa when I needed to clamp something and I had no clamps. I think the cutting to hold the planks just came as another solution to a problem. Håkan, I guess I forget how small of this stuff really is, also. 1:64 isn't that small when I look at the plans. It's only when I get my fat fingers in there I wish I had went with a bigger scale.
  13. Daniel, I think it turned out very well. I agree that the distortion adds something to the uniqueness of this project as do all the fish in the "water".
  14. Yves, You ask a question that only the log owner/builder could answer. I wish we could help with that, but until they show up, we'll never know.
  15. I do agree with this.. I know you can do it Sherry. We'll help you when you need it.
  16. Thanks Popeye and Daniel. Things will pick a bit for this week... go dead for a week and then should really pick up the following week... I want to get planking done and build some more deck furniture. Have the capstan, pumps, and a bunch of cannon to do.
  17. Rusty, There's what we call "set-up" and then there's what we tell the Admiral is "set-up".....
  18. Hmmm.... check Micromark. They sell drum sander paper in grits down to 320 grit. Size is: 2" diameter by 5.5" long for their thickness sander. Other places might sell the sander tubes also.
