Hello dear friends
your words mean a lot for me, thank you all for the posts and support,  that´s a great honour for me.

Well, finally I have decided to cover the cabins, but I suppose this will be the most practical. Everything inside is clearly visible through the windows.

The ceilings are made of pale squares (to reflect the light) , some of them are decorted with gilded ornaments.

Here are the newest pics, so you can enjoy them.

Best regards,

Doris

Lovely Doris, the only word I can find to convey the feeling of what I observe in the photos is "Rubenesque."   It reminds me of the paintings of Rubens, warm and sweet.

Hi Doris,

Your photos defy description. It is hard to imagine this kind of detail at any scale, and even more, built out of card!

Could you give us a little more information on how you built the small details, like the table settings, chairs, etc. Is some of this papier-mâché? And how did you get such smooth finishes?

I was thinking about building a captain's table and chairs in my Bellona project someday, but I was thinking about a simple trestle table. You have inspired me to think a little more boldly!

Best wishes,

Mark

I use mostly card and self adhesive foils to achieve wooden look. Some parts are made of wood or clay. Paper/card pieces are glued together, sometimes there are 3-5 layers to achieve the necessary thickness. After that the finished parts are covered with foils.

This is a similar procedure as I use for finishing the hull - it was already described at this thread.

Here are some pics from the table and chairs making, you can see there paper basis and also wooden parts:

Hello dear friend Doris,

Thank you for the links to the Czech forum, that is very interesting, when I will arrive that far I will "borrow" your techniques too!

Actually I believe "paper model" is not quite right to say in your case. The ultra-orthodox so to say paper modellers do make everything in paper, starting with the hull and ending with the masts, spars and so on. Yours approach is very different, you do the hull in paper, but then the 3D pieces are done in different media according to the required shape and look.

I believe "Mixed media" would be more appropriate for your technique.

You are as always a true inspiration for me, I only hope to be able some day to model something at least half as beautiful as yours! Best wishes,

Dorin

Hello Doris, Happy new year and thank you for your continued inspiring work. I have run out of words to say, other than absolutely stunning.

As a side note I mentioned this at the beginning of my work on MSW 1 It was seeing your work on the westlake publishing forum  a few years ago that inspired me to begin a small card model of my pilot cutter. Then I found this site.

I am so glad that you are back posting your wonderful work.

Doris,

Thank you for the link to your log. I went through the whole log from page 1 to page 49, even though I do not know the language the pictures spoke for all that was there. I now understand what it takes to make a ship from card. Your work and detail is out of this world, there are no others words that can describe the talent that you have. You are the best in this hobby. Thank you for sharing all your fine work with all of us. Please never stop posting your builds. I wish you the best in the new year and all the years that follow. Than you.

That´s right, I use various materials, but I try to use card/paper as far as it goes, but sometimes paper has got limits (solidity and durability), or it is easier to make some details of other materials with much better result. I have no special tools, unfortunately. The most important for me is final impression and durability. Some years ago I used only paper, but was not satisfied with "paper" looking result.

Don´t worry, dear friend. I am pleased sharing my work with you. Sometimes i am a bit busy to add new post ( it is also quite difficult to me write in English), but I am going to continue as soon as possible.

Well, the Royal Caroline is already closed - all decks are in their places and i am continuing with fitting and lighting on stern.

Enjoy the pics and have a great time

Kind regards

Doris

I feel truly honored following this project. It's like watching a little bit of history being created.

Such utterly astonishing and incredible workmanship.

Or maybe that should now be workwomanshIp? You really are redefining what is possible Doris

Everything is just so clean and perfect.

It's a joy to behold
