No hard reference but from what I've read 25-30 feet seems to be the number -
Nice selection on the size and color of the stones. Casks look good. Nice hold!

Just keep in mind that silicone takes a long time to set but will remain flexible after that. Cleans off easily with rubbing alcohol if you get any where you don't want it.

Like some others, I rig as much as I can on the masts and yards off the ship. Blocks, eyebolts, footropes etc. But I rig the shrouds on the ship. I prefer to have the masts set at the appropriate angles and for this I use a light coat of flexible clear silicone caulk which gives some resistance while at the same time being easily adjusted by the rigging.

Thanks for looking in folks. Real life has caught up with us since our return and it's been impossible to settle back into the shipyard. Pretty much ready to begin on the cannons in another week (+/-). Keeping up with everyone's progress has kept a smile on this old face. I SHALL return.........

JP, I keep looking at your drawing. Is 33 not the final layer of planking and actually consists of strips rather than a "large expanse'. ? -
Plenty of help on here for this one. Check out Rafine's and Dubz builds for real inspiration. And Chuck is always available to lend encouragement.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
