  1. yea.....those posts are pretty vulnerable at this stage.........you might do well to lay the first plank along the top edge. that's what I did with a few of my builds. on one especially......I went all the way to the deck line. not a lot of faring that high.........it's concentrated at the turn
  2. nice bit of progress J........a few more fittings, and it's mast time! whooooohoooo!
  3. very good repair of the bulkheads Patrick.........planking will really tell the story. by the looks of it, your going to have a happy ending oh........your probably not the first to sport an otterman in your pictures.......you surly won't be the last. let me guess......the admiral wasn't home at the time.......right?!?!
  4. Hank........this is detail you won't find in any kit..........it's amazing! I'm still in awe of your method........it all looks so seamless really great job!
  5. SHUT UP!!!!! AWESOME!!! ...........and in the back of your mind, you probably thought you couldn't do it that assembly is going to look so cool........already so much so! boy!!!........what you sub-boys can do! .........and we thought you folks don't get out much! sub - mersably speaking, of course............really Piet, it looks really good!
  6. all the vitamins and minerals that a growing sailor would need! might even have a bit of protein too! {protozoa}
  7. looking at that last picture Nenad........you have nothing to worry about! she looks great! I love that deck........you did a really sweet job on it..........and the bulwarks really set 'er up. move ahead.........no more lament you have your hothead........I have my version as well. just helped him get his first car......used. he's driving me crazy......cares more about that stereo than anything else! I'm ready to hang him by his big toes on the yardarms!
  8. I'll most likely go with vista or win 7.........I hear win 8 is a dog! I have a couple of other computers I can play with........love to get my Dell GX 150 going again.........ran very nice and smooth. I'd probably run into too many upgrades to get her going though. I'm running a Sony Vaio at the moment. I forget how many gigs I have in her........but I'll probably have to upgrade her when I change over. oh what fun!
  9. the stove looks sweet! the drinking water cask really adds to the overall look and function........very nicely done!
  10. not to worry Walter.......all things come for those who wait while it would be nice to devote total time to our builds.......they're a hobby, and not a job. I kinda wish they were.......I myself would be a very happy camper for it. the medium has many layers to it......to understand them all would make a well rounded modeler. learn all you can and have a good time with it I'll be changing from XP as well........I'm dreading that like the plague
  11. no.........your model is doing exactly what it is supposed to do all this means is that you've picked a good subject.........and if you do this well on a sub, I can imagine what you would do with aircraft! :D I await this wonderful surprise you have in store......at this scale, anything is fair game and possible. remember the mantra...........the larger the scale, the more detail that comes to light.........and with more detail, the happier the modeler will be I remember the models of earlier days.......no lines or rivets......just a conical tube with wings stuck in it!
  12. I would imagine that if you were to look at other ships of her class, it may give you a better idea. the ropes going down into the grate may be correct. I wish I knew more of these types of vessels. your really doing her justice though....very nice
  13. that would be my thought.........and make the rest of them a bit more pronounce to give them the look. your going to have deck beams across the span......right?
  14. wonderful work Nils........I love to look in and see all the fine interior work you've done. you are so right......that oak really makes her shine you have great imagination...........that's not a pin rack..........that's a club rack
  15. photos are the window of the mind.....they are about as 'real time' as you can get any closer, and you'll have a bunch of guy standing and looking over your shoulder. looking at the crowd you've amassed, there wouldn't be much room hypothetical, I know.......but that's what makes this site so great. it allows us to see what your thinking........I like the way your thinking
  16. you could use dry transfers........I haven't used them too much, so I don't have much experience with them. I have been using a decal maker put out by 'Sure Thing' sold by Testor's. they have what is called the 'decal it decal maker' program standard edition. they have an updated program for it......I need to get it still, but it has worked well for me. perhaps the company that makes the kit has the decals: http://www.testors.com/search?q=decal+maker&x=37&y=11 http://www.pulsarprofx.com/decalpro/ http://www.lindberg-models.com/models-in_the_water3.html
  17. you've done some really nice detail there........that bow looks soooooo nice! anchors and rigging is going to accentuate quite nicely!
  18. she's fantastic Tom.....you've done a superb job! the only difference I can see is that she's not in black 'n white
