  1. not to worry Walter.......all things come for those who wait while it would be nice to devote total time to our builds.......they're a hobby, and not a job. I kinda wish they were.......I myself would be a very happy camper for it. the medium has many layers to it......to understand them all would make a well rounded modeler. learn all you can and have a good time with it I'll be changing from XP as well........I'm dreading that like the plague
  2. no.........your model is doing exactly what it is supposed to do all this means is that you've picked a good subject.........and if you do this well on a sub, I can imagine what you would do with aircraft! :D I await this wonderful surprise you have in store......at this scale, anything is fair game and possible. remember the mantra...........the larger the scale, the more detail that comes to light.........and with more detail, the happier the modeler will be I remember the models of earlier days.......no lines or rivets......just a conical tube with wings stuck in it!
  3. I would imagine that if you were to look at other ships of her class, it may give you a better idea. the ropes going down into the grate may be correct. I wish I knew more of these types of vessels. your really doing her justice though....very nice
  4. that would be my thought.........and make the rest of them a bit more pronounce to give them the look. your going to have deck beams across the span......right?
  5. never a dull moment.......eh Nenad!
  6. wonderful work Nils........I love to look in and see all the fine interior work you've done. you are so right......that oak really makes her shine you have great imagination...........that's not a pin rack..........that's a club rack
  7. photos are the window of the mind.....they are about as 'real time' as you can get any closer, and you'll have a bunch of guy standing and looking over your shoulder. looking at the crowd you've amassed, there wouldn't be much room hypothetical, I know.......but that's what makes this site so great. it allows us to see what your thinking........I like the way your thinking
  8. that would be sweet!............well deserved
  9. I though I saw a couple of shooting stars........
  10. good to see your making progress........looking great!
  11. you could use dry transfers........I haven't used them too much, so I don't have much experience with them. I have been using a decal maker put out by 'Sure Thing' sold by Testor's. they have what is called the 'decal it decal maker' program standard edition. they have an updated program for it......I need to get it still, but it has worked well for me. perhaps the company that makes the kit has the decals: http://www.testors.com/search?q=decal+maker&x=37&y=11 http://www.pulsarprofx.com/decalpro/ http://www.lindberg-models.com/models-in_the_water3.html
  12. you've done some really nice detail there........that bow looks soooooo nice! anchors and rigging is going to accentuate quite nicely!
  13. she's fantastic Tom.....you've done a superb job! the only difference I can see is that she's not in black 'n white
  14. you've come a long way............now your getting the look you desire........happy days!
  15. well, in any case.........while it may be too late to use your new toys on your present build......your next one will look all the better for it!
  16. I have no idea Popjack........but I think you just gave me a new term for the sags under my eyes :D
  17. now THAT........looks real sweet! at least your kit supplied the stars very well done.
  18. looking great Wayne........looks to me like there are enough frame there {ribs} to do a fairly decent butt shift pattern. do you intend to plank around the deck line before you plank the deck? pieces could be used around the inner edge for the ones that won't fall on a rib frame. that's a call you'll have to make when you get there looks really sweet! your painter is really good!..........extra rations for that man!
  19. every one has a system........I have a 'tube system' myself. I saved a bunch of postal tubes {large} and cut them slightly shorter than the strip lengths. drilled some holes with my hole saw and cemented the tubes into them. then I have some smaller ones, shorter for the stock I've already cut. work well......and I can even label the main tubes planking looks very nice........you'll have 'er looking spiffy in no time!
  20. wonderful update Daniel.......great idea on rigging! makes my technique look like a monkey doing the 'mad passionate' to a football!
  21. now that you have the starfish...............I'm waiting to see what you come up with
  22. very nice bit of progress looks super. I fully rigged my first United States.......per the instructions, there were more than enough pins to go around.
