I'll most likely go with vista or win 7.........I hear win 8 is a dog! I have a couple of other computers I can play with........love to get my Dell GX 150 going again.........ran very nice and smooth. I'd probably run into too many upgrades to get her going though. I'm running a Sony Vaio at the moment. I forget how many gigs I have in her........but I'll probably have to upgrade her when I change over. oh what fun!

not to worry Walter.......all things come for those who wait while it would be nice to devote total time to our builds.......they're a hobby, and not a job. I kinda wish they were.......I myself would be a very happy camper for it. the medium has many layers to it......to understand them all would make a well rounded modeler. learn all you can and have a good time with it I'll be changing from XP as well........I'm dreading that like the plague

no.........your model is doing exactly what it is supposed to do all this means is that you've picked a good subject.........and if you do this well on a sub, I can imagine what you would do with aircraft! :D I await this wonderful surprise you have in store......at this scale, anything is fair game and possible. remember the mantra...........the larger the scale, the more detail that comes to light.........and with more detail, the happier the modeler will be I remember the models of earlier days.......no lines or rivets......just a conical tube with wings stuck in it!

I would imagine that if you were to look at other ships of her class, it may give you a better idea. the ropes going down into the grate may be correct. I wish I knew more of these types of vessels. your really doing her justice though....very nice

that would be my thought.........and make the rest of them a bit more pronounce to give them the look. your going to have deck beams across the span......right?

photos are the window of the mind.....they are about as 'real time' as you can get any closer, and you'll have a bunch of guy standing and looking over your shoulder. looking at the crowd you've amassed, there wouldn't be much room hypothetical, I know.......but that's what makes this site so great. it allows us to see what your thinking........I like the way your thinking

you could use dry transfers........I haven't used them too much, so I don't have much experience with them. I have been using a decal maker put out by 'Sure Thing' sold by Testor's. they have what is called the 'decal it decal maker' program standard edition. they have an updated program for it......I need to get it still, but it has worked well for me. perhaps the company that makes the kit has the decals: http://www.testors.com/search?q=decal+maker&x=37&y=11 http://www.pulsarprofx.com/decalpro/ http://www.lindberg-models.com/models-in_the_water3.html

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
