  1. that's a sweet job on the gun deck Evan, very well done! so clean and lots of detail. have you assembled the hull yet? it's not that hard a job to install the deck whole like that.......I did it with the wooden deck I made for my United States. now I need to take it back out, so I can plank it {film at eleven} the finish is nice looking as well......never tried that paint
  2. thank you all for your kind comments.......I really appreciate it I started to make them using white glue, but they kept moving, so I went with the CA......hated to do it. the 'work week' has a way of getting the CA off the finger tips......parts cleaner works well I am happy with the results......even though it a little out. I've done a little sanding, and it does look a bit better. now that I have some time for the table....I'll get the other one done, and perhaps assemble the masts. you are so right Mobbsie......the fix on the mizzen will be fun. I have a good idea of what to do. I should have an update soon. thank you everyone for looking in and the good word!
  3. I do my own sails......it's not too bad. make a test one first to get used to the machine. the rudder came out really nice.......such a wonderful job!
  4. agreed Mark........rough......MY EYE! looks great Hank. I can hardly tell there's any mating joints in the assembly very nice
  5. we just got through a warm spell.......lost quite a bit of snow now it getting cold again, and I hear she'll be rearing her ugly head again! I'll be glad when it's over. you've had your share of weird weather it will be good to see some progress........since you runn'in 'round in yer skivvies :D
  6. she looks really sweet Patrick! yea......when I would finish a build, I would get all warm and fuzzy now I just get warm.....the congratulatory shot! your almost there! very nice indeed!
  7. good to hear you got resolve with your issues........looking forward in seeing some sawdust flying over there
  8. now.......for the main update. I began to assemble the pump then I started to paint some of the decoration parts. I need to do some painting........before I do though, I want to look around some more, for more pictures. but, I think I'm only going to find the more 'up to date' version of this ship. there are to be a couple of Sampson posts for the bow these are the parts that I have for the crow's nests......I'm missing quite a few of the hoops so, instead of using these parts, and having them look 'off', I am going to make the fore and main nests from scratch. I began with the posts. this is the main mast nest........I soaked some strip stock to make the lower railings the upper railing is going to be a bit wider. it will be sanded down after the nest is assembled, to give it a more rounded look to it. I will use a little filler to close up the gaps....then, of course a little sanding to round it up and even out the appearance. it looks a little out of round at the moment.......I did it by eye . still more to do on it......as well as assemble the fore nest. I may have to paint......I fear many glue blotches.........perhaps I can match the color.
  9. thank you Lawrence. yes, there are some thing I need to change......the railings were one of them. then I have missing parts, so I'm sure this will lead into more. thanks for the good word yes Mobbsie........I can see, your waiting patiently.........that's It!! no more crossing the pond for you and Sjors :D he's teaching you bad things! :D as promised, here are the pictures of the masting, and the problem that I need to deal with. I feel there is too much rake with the Mizzen mast. with it having this much rake, it upsets the canopy. I haven't measured it, but it looks to me, to be about 1/8 of an inch. I think that these two 'holes' are too close together. the mast does have a collar......so it may help me when I make the adjustment. I can even divide the amount of adjustment between the lower aft deck and the main deck holes, cutting down the amount change, and still achieve what I need to do. I'll see when I get to this point.
  10. thanks Dragzz..........I might have done just that :D too late for an update...I'll try to get it up tomorrow
  11. really sweet build Daniel! the sails and rigging look great!
  12. thank you Bindy the Crow's nests are a pain to scratch build...just round railed tops. I have one done......one more to go. you'll see them soon .......they won't be perfect, but for a first attempt, they'll do. thanks for the good word and looking in
  13. one good thing about it......it's soft wood, it'll sand quick. it's all in the shaping
  14. outstanding work Gil museums and art galleries are hungry for work like this!
  15. thanks Dragzz and Senior...thanks for the good word and looking it thanks Marty.....actually, the mast problem is minor......I'm sure there is a simple solution for it. I'll get a couple of pictures to give everyone an idea of what the problem is. I think the holes for the mast and the hole for the canopy {on the lower aft deck}, are laser cut too close together. looking at the plans......there is some rake, but not that much. the camera is on the charge at the moment. it's a bit awkward, because I am in the middle of scratch building the crow's nests..........they're a pain in the backside too! thanks for looking in and the good word
  16. hi Ed........I think your talking about the Holiday boats.....but that's OK. congratz to the women's hockey team.......I forget who won ..I don't follow it.....sorry
  17. Robbyn........I thought your comment was very funny.......I wish there was a 'really like' button! made me think of the movie '12 monkeys' so true.........it would be a boring build without them I'll keep that in mind Sjors...such a kind gesture! is Anja going to add them In?
  18. I enjoy how you always look to improve the improved!
  19. wishing you the best, and a speedy recovery......take care, and will look forward in seeing an update when your feeling better
  20. I can see a subtle difference Daniel, in how everything looks. you did very well with the reno but, I do have to ask why.......I thought you did a splendid job on this originally was it because you did a refinement on the replacement parts?
