  1. I had one made from plywood on all sides but the front which was plexi. Worked until I could afford something better.
  2. Win7 and Chrome... same issues with not seeing the pictures. Very strange.
  3. They were probably cleaned and repainted after use, Jaager. I vaguely remember reading somewhere that painting the guns was part of maintenance activities.
  4. Welcome to MSW. I recall what Chris said and there's build logs several large (by wargaming standards) of viking era ships here.
  5. Depends on the cannon material. Brass/bronze were usually left on finished. Iron (and this is one of those "depends" answers) painted or left bare (wrought iron ones not cast).
  6. Welcome to MSW, Ozark. By all means, start a build log. It'll be the best way to get help and encouragement with the build. As for general questions like glue... there's a plastic area here: https://modelshipworld.com/index.php?/forum/58-general-ship-model-kit-discussions/ And for tech type questions or research there's here:https://modelshipworld.com/index.php?/forum/12-shop-notes-ship-modeling-tips-techniques-and-research/ And there's an index which would point you to other builds: Explore the site, use the search function (upper right hand corner). Once you're comfy, ask away...
  7. Try putting a cloth on your lap from your belt to the work bench. I use some tape to hold the cloth to the bench but will hopefully soon, use something more permanent. I'm now catching probably 90% of the stuff that heads to the floor.
  8. Sounds to me like you're off to a good start. And a build log is an excellent idea.
  9. Trig, I keep it separate so not to contaminate the "new" stuff. I also do what Jim says.. use it over and over until it stops working.
  10. Looking like a new post from here, Dave.
  11. To paraphrase the old TV commercial ad: "Is it the real ship or is it Memorx?" Seems like every build you do raises the bar, Dan. And they also show how to raise our own bars.
  12. Go to the top left of any page and you'll see your log in name. Click on the little down arrow and you'll get this which allows you to edit your profile: I'll note that you won't see "Moderator CP" in your profile.
  13. Steve, I think you did the right thing. Been there, done that as have others. Now to sit back patiently and wait for you to figure out what's next.
