From personal experience, I can tell you that it takes a lot of perseverance to post regularly on multiple forums, especially if one of them is not in your native language.

I believe Chris is correct. Our Doris is quite famous worldwide.  There are so many ship model forums throughout the world with unbelievably talented model makers. Doris can't possibly post to them all!

I don't think anyone has to worry....I'm quite sure she will update us here soon ;)   her last couple updates were like this......spaced with some degree of time.  she knows that the MSW community appreciates her work,  and as Chris and Greg mentioned.......it's very hard to keep up with multiple sites.  I've even cut down on the number of sites I frequent....just too darn confusing!   I'm glad to hear that she is doing well and still continuing with her build.........if what I hear is true,  we'll be in for one hell of an update!   I'm gonna put a pillow at my feet so my jaw won't hurt when it hits the floor! :D  :D

Bad news guys, I am afraid that Doris will no longer continue with her presentation of her modeling on our site.  I went to the modelforum.cz to view her Royal Katherine build log and found a quote (July 14, 2019) where she has said as much.  :(  Apparently she was expressing her frustration there at having to repeatedly respond to the same questions over and over even though she had provided many detailed photo tutorials previously.

She is apparently on several different modeling forum sites at this time and wanted to cut down on the time spent on them to devote more of her time to actually working on her modeling projects.  Personally, I think that she is looking for more guidance for her from the sites.  Unfortunately for her, she herself seems to be the authority on the subject and there are few out there that know more about the subject than her.

However if you want to continue following her work, (with the availability of the translation programs) just go to the modelform.cz website and you can follow her there.   I am saddened by this news as my wife and I can't help but appreciate her artistry and find that I continue using some of her techniques.   Still, I wish her continued success on her modeling.

I guess this makes Doris a "canceled Czech."  :D  Seriously, though, I stopped following her logs on a regular basis for much the same reasons given for her abandoning posting on this forum. When I follow a log, I read every post by the builder and I learn a lot. Her work is truly exceptional and she is a highly skilled modeler. That said, her log became, to my mind, "cluttered" and overwhelmed by gushy compliments and "fan mail" which made reading her log tedious. I'm sure every build logger appreciates the compliments and positive encouragement. Ours is a lonely hobby under the best of circumstances and a compliment from anyone who knows what they are looking at is always treasured. Doris always made sure she acknowledged every comment and "like." That must have ultimately made tremendous demands on her time and caused her to "burn out" on MSW. I, also, was annoyed by the many times she was asked what materials she used or how she achieved a particular effect when those questions had been asked more than once before and answered in depth previously. Such questions impose upon everyone reading the log. I submit that it's enough to occasionally express appreciation for such masters' sharing their work and leaving it at that.

This is why I prefer to just click on 'like', rather than to add a meaningless eulogy. If you don't have to ask a question or otherwise add substantially to the discussion, than better don't say anything.

It's a bit of a vicious circle: ploughing through a long building log in the hope to find somewhere the answer to a question is quite tedious for the reader too, if one has newly discovered a log; so I think it is fair to ask a question, even though it might have been asked before. Perhaps the builder then might consider a separate thread on FAQs or noting down the number of the post, where something has been described previously and to refer to that post.

I can fully understand that at some stage one may want to cut down on the presence in fora, it just becomes too time consuming and distracts from the 'real' thing.

Well, you have to admit that the number of times people ask to see videos of her sculpting process is a little out of control.  Firstly, she always incorporates them into the log, so they can be found there, if curious minds look a little.  Then, there’s her presence on YouTube where quite a number of those videos reside in one place.

I have to say that as many times as  I’ve watched these videos - despite how easy she makes it seem - I had such a time replicating anything passable.  I gave up, for the time being.

We are all works in progress, all of the time.

Hello dear friends,
first I must apologize I was not here for a long time and didn't let you know about the progress. I have only little free time for hobbies and try to continue on Czech forum at least. I am sorry that I am not able to answer all your questions - mainly duplicate questions, that were answered and explained in detail many times  - I cannot devote myself to it, otherwise I would not have any time for anything else. It is also quite difficult for me write in English language and use correct expressions.

I do appreciate all your comments and strong support. Thank you all for this.
I would like to bring some new pics from continuation, so make yourself comfortable and enjoy.

I managed to remove the model from pedestals and paint the underwater part of the hull with protective white stuff. In that occasion there were raised "dolphins pedestals" using wooden base. The girdling almost disappeared, but you can still recognize a different method of laying the planks.

The lanterns on the stern were made of cardboard and thick foils,  included plenty of hand made ornaments from modeling clay/I use Czech product Modelit/Modurit for all decorations on my the model. I have decided to create a different shape of lanterns ( in comparison with Vale´s painting). I have found inspiration in Sailmaker painting of The Royal Katherine and other similar ships from that period.

Making the largest flag on the model  - I used a fine red fabric on which I painted white rectangles. Finished flag was oversprayed with flat coat to achieve unchangeable shape.

It was important to make the necessary changes to make the model more realistic. I noticed, that some elements in the previous work I did wrong, unfortunately the absence of accurate and, above all, quality plans is a hell ...

The changes concerned the displacement of masts and remodeling quarter galleries to achieve better symmetry.
