LA VENUS 1782 by giampieroricci - French Frigate - Scale 1:96

Recommended Posts

I started my new project, a little ambitious, on an almost impossible scale: I always admired extremely small models, always convinced that it would have been an impossible job for me. It's a challenge against myself!

Obviously I started from the keel and it is already difficult to be able to keep the straight line.

Hi Giampiero

This is one of my favorite frigates , I'll follow this build with great interest.

First pictures obviously show this is far beyond my skills, I have no trouble in admitting.

Kind regards

Well, I can see how much wood you'll save at that scale - assuming you don't have to re-make too many pieces! Looks like an excellent result so far, Giampiero.

I i am building this model at 1:96 scale, as it is written in the title.

the model you see in the background is H.M.S. Alfred that I am building at the same time, based on drawings by Harold Hahn at 1:72 scale

The model is now of extreme fragility

Permanently filling the spaces above the wale added stability.  Consider a keelson;  and bilge riders at the head of futtock 1.   The clamps will certainly secure things.

It's hard to believe this is 1:96 scale with all the detail.  Lovely work, Giampiero
