  1. hi Nenad........finally getting a chance to look in on your progress. you did such a good job with the cabin structure.......scratch built, it looked totally awesome! you've got such a great idea going......I'm sure you'll come up with better to be honest with you though......your first one was Ok sorry to hear your mother in law is still ill.........hoping for a speedy recovery .

  4. looking really sweet Pat......yea, gotta hate those 'anti 3M' moments {I hate it when things don't stick}
  5. I stumbled upon this ship during my research for the Christmas tree boat I'm building........very interesting
  6. hoping for a speedy recovery.........finger's crossed everything comes out alright
  7. you folks have the older version....most likely, the first production. it was not laser cut. the one I inherited from a friend of mine is laser cut. I ended up taking it apart.....mostly because of the damage it received during shipment to me. I had made these observations before and during disassembly. there were some discrepancies with the measurements.......starting with the center spine of the keel. on your kits, it is to be 300 mm.......mine stated that it was 310 mm and it threw the entire hull frame off. there was a gap at the bow stem, as well as a huge gap at the mid ship, where the two deck sections met. it translated to the placement of the ribs as well. I didn't bother to make the adjustment however.....I had made two other keels from the original keel.......a special project from an idea I got. I made adjustments to the spacing of the bulkheads and I will do the same for the other frames....I'm not going to worry about 10 mm. I was told that the scale stated on your kits is 1:75.....mine is 1:65. it will even out in my view
  8. you've done well to achieve the shape of the hull Patrick.......looks really nice! sorry to hear about you being sick age old problem.........older than Keith Richards! hope your feeling better
  9. catching up as well Frank..........got some really nice progress going on! I wish I could be helpful with the rigging........if I had a diagram, I'd sent it to ya! I'm sure you'll find plenty of guidance along the way!
  10. wonderful progress Jesse........deck looks superb! you've done some very nice work looking forward in seeing how the plate jig works
  11. superb progress Denis.......love the quarter deck walls........I agree with everyone else.
  12. one more 'X' for the magnifying glass of detail the presence of bolts around these holes must have been a definite clue. very interesting bit of sleuthing Daniel
  13. 'tis just a scratch.........just a reminder to follow protocol.... good to see some progress my friend! she's really looking good
  14. I'm not an expert at planking........I've had a few that gave 'planking' a new definition. it's all a learning process.......and you've done very well in your recovery! the hull looks really good actually, I think faring a hull frame is kinda fun. when I sand the edges, I go by the noise it makes.........drives my admiral nutz, this noise lessens as the bulkheads conform to the contour of the hull shape. when the noise is gone.......the job's done. I'm sure I don't have to add anything more
  15. she looks sweet Patrick..........great outdoor shots!
  16. you sure you want to make a hull? that plug is looking mighty good.........you could simply build off of it very nice!
  17. with me, I tend to build the type of ships I like..........but since I started to go rogue with the kits, I've gotten into modifying and scratch building. this has been a good.....and bad thing, because of all the crazy ideas that have popped into my head. but, it's led to some really cool builds. as long as I'm having fun, I'm happy
  18. nice head start Patrick you have a very ambitious plan.........I like it! looking forward in seeing your progress!
  19. I am so glad to see and read of your progress........but now saddened to hear your mother in law is taking a turn. my wishes are with you my friend.......do what you need to do........her majesty and your friends will all be here when you get back. take care of yourself as well "take care of those you call your own..........and keep good company" Queen: "night at the opera"
  20. great work Bob! congratz on another fine build gone done! I named one after my admiral........yea, she sputtered, but it grew on her. I do recall an old proverb though......."it is better to build another boat, than a dog house" wonderful build though
  21. lots of nice progress Piet........sorry to hear about the gun port lids. at smaller scales, it's hit or miss to do aspects that are movable. although, I seem to have the greatest success with rudders.........try as I might to glue them in permanent, by the end of the build.......they move! I wish I had something to add about the power tool end of the conversation........the only two I have is a dremel and a scroll saw. if I had anything more, I'd probably be lost great progress my friend.......love the idea about the cut out. there are so many possibilities
