Danny, I suspect you're thinking ahead to a 74... production runs would be needed. Then again...that jig would speed up even a 22 gun brig build.

What do you use your mill for ?

Martin, Here's a link for the MM Micro: http://modelshipworld.com/index.php?/topic/256-micromark-micromill-review/ Things to consider: Size of workpieces and thus table movement? Accessories and will they fit the micro mill? And of course: quality and "fit for purpose"? -

Thanks gentlemen. I hope to have a real update in the near future. Augie, You might be right. I managed to miss Myspace and am diligently avoiding Facebook. I do like the "like" button here though.

Ilhan, Beautiful work and great tutorial, as always. I look forward to your next posting.

Excellent info, Anthony. Thanks.

Great idea on the milling and round stock. I've done the 4-jaw chuck bit and it's a pain to set up for each axle.

I realized, Adriaan, that I misplaced my post and deleted it... been a long day... <sigh>

Sweet, Kevin. Looks just perfect, both the garden and the ship. On the ship's boats, do some Googling. I think Hahn did some of that. As I recall, a bunch of the builders of Chuck's longboat use long rods for display. Puts it right up there in the air.

I Googled it and all I saw was it was off the coast to the norh. Actually Thailand... ? I didn't get to Thailand, either. Still, I remember the airport at Kuala Lumpur, RAF Butterworth, and visiting a host of coconut plantations as well as a lot of sighting seeing and wandering around the capital. A marvelous 2 weeks. Maybe I ought to add another visit there to my bucket list?

Impressive work. Somehow I missed your return from the party.. my bad. I visited Malaysia way back in 1970 but never saw Koh NangYuen. My loss.

I think you get the idea.. I'm excited for you... fishing and flying... Actually, it's all about your Syren. Looks super super great. You deserve some time on something else.

Nice work, Bob. I notice the that steps have the "worn" look which is an interesting touch.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
