I agree with Augie! From the perspective in the first pic, she looks to be about 4 feet long. Definitely a sizable ship and you're off to a great start with the planking Mark!

Exscuse me, Mark....

From the first picture I see that the plank of ebony has not a curvature harmonious but has edges a bit 'too accentuated. This could affect the lines and the beauty of the model!
You still have time to correct this error!

Thanks for the likes and the comments.

Gianpiero,

You are quite right.  I haven't sanded nor shaped the ebony strip and the thick strip above it (in the picture).   This will be taken care of next as I want to have the planking at the gunports done and finish applied to protect them on both sides first.   Thanks for being another set of eyes...

Edit: I've studied it again on the ship.  If I can't fix it, I'll rip it off and re-do it but right now, it looks fixable since it's still rough.

I've planked the starboard side gun port strip and on both sides added the ebony chain wale and the ebony bow area planking.  There's two areas that are unplanked in the chain wale where the channels will fit.  Things look wet because of the first coat of wipe-on poly.

Footnote.. I'm more than a bit chuffed as the chain wales (port and starboard) are within 2 scale inches of each other.

I'll now go around to the other side, and sand the ebony bow planking.  It's there but really rough before the next update.

Just one question mate, Ebony is not an easy material to work with, how did you find bending it around the bow.?

I like the use of this wood but have only used it once and that was just a straight strip, I do however have to use a bit later in my build. Gonna be fun me thinks.
