  1. Looking good, Carl. As for the stripping off of the owner/copyright properties, ask it in the Problem area. I'm thinking the forum software does this as it seems rather common on other sites. Usually to anonomize any location data, etc.
  2. Here's a disclaimer from my tech writing days (modified for ship building).... "All errors and mistakes along with any broken bits whether intentional or accidental are for the sake of realism. Just deal with it as crap happens." After re-planking an area on my gundeck for the 5th time (near the bow), I may have have a plaque made and attached to the display.
  3. I'm not gonna' like that post, Jay. I had kidney stones once back in my late 20's. I think there's still fingermarks on the wall of the restroom where I worked. Miserable.. just miserable. You have my condolences on these as I wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy... ok... maybe on them but not on the rest of us.
  4. That's a great tutorial, Eric. Thanks for taking the time to do it.
  5. Great looking net, Ken. And good luck on getting the roof done.
  6. That is a sweet looking fleet of ship's boats, David. Well done.
  7. Hi Scott,
  8. I presume the cascabel was there as the same/similar cannons were used by the army and fortifications? Then again...
  9. Very common on the French ships. I'm not sure why but that seems to be the way they did it.
  10. Fantastic rigging, Sjors. Well done and congratulations.
  11. Beautiful and breath-taking work, Bob. I'll have to go find a seat for the Halifax build.
  12. Bite the bullet and digitize. Once it's in the 'puter, it's not that hard to manipulate it. I use CorelDraw (2D for use on the laser cutter) and once you get the rhythm and workflow, it goes pretty easy.
  13. I'm sorry to hear about your iPad. Is there an Apple store near you or a repair facility? They can probably open it, dry it, clean out the salt and hopefully get it operational again. Indeed... an external back up device (and NOT the cloud) is highly recommended. Disconnect until ready to do a backup as the bad guys out there will nail your connected backup if they get a chance.
  14. I note that Ken Forman is featured in the gallery of the new Scale Hardware site. Congrats to Ken!!!!
  15. Stunningly beautiful... Nils. The amount of detail is amazing right down to the tiny grates on the funnel supports. Takes my breath away.
  16. It's great to hear from you Nenad. I was beginning to worry a bit.
  17. She appears to be aging well, Greg. Nice touch on the green.
  18. Looks great, Chuck. That's probably a valid fear and I would follow it. As for changing the title... go back the very first post and find "edit" and click on it. You should be able to change the title there. Edit: I just checked and you can edit it there.
  19. Chris, If you use the recommended blades from Thurston for the Jim saw (or any saw they'll fit and Thurston has a lot of different sizes) all will be well. Having a back up saw isn't a bad idea as I'm sure there's things you'll want to use the Preac for. Seems we all have to find out what works for us in tools.
  20. B.E. A thanks for what you're doing. I was expecting the "executive summary" like many of did after the Big Crash of '13. This is very well done. I'm happy to see it back as I'll be using some of your methods (especially the boats) on my build.
  21. Most kit models? Probably yes there are more. But all kit makers have their own way of doing things. If MS didn't do one then that's correct for the kit. As for scratch.... very few do double planking as the real ships weren't double planked.
  22. Looking good, Keith. I'm curious how this will come out. I've seen other methods but yours is just different enough due to the brass part to make me want to try it.
