Been tempted on the drinks, Jeff.

Andrew, I tried that and no joy.  So, painting is the option.  I'm giving thought to the yellow as Glenn suggested that also. Looks like a run to the hobby shop tomorrow in the morning.

I'm going to try to get this "fixed" ASAP as next week is going to be busy.  I get my new heart valve on Thursday.

I think that the yellow ochre will look really good but don't rush it.

Good luck on your surgery! You'll be as good as new afterwards. I got a new valve 6 years ago and all is good now.

Best wishes for next week and looking forward to seeing your finished Sphinx. I really like the colours and wood together, perhaps it is the lighting or maybe you are just good at this: either way it stands out among the logs.

It all looks good from here for things.

As for the ship, been touching up paint, finishing adding some parts (trim) to the hull.  Hopefully I can get the ochre on tonight and tomorrow and do an update before things get really hectic.

Finally have the port side done with painting and touch ups.. more touch ups, ad infinitum ad nauseum.  So here's two pics.  I've turned the hull around and started the yellow on the starboard side.   All things considered, I'm pretty pleased with the result so far.

Thanks for the likes and comments.   Sadly, the other side isn't looking as good.  Trying to clean up the mess removed some of the line of the planking.   <sigh>  Looks like this will be "back" side of the display.   Still need touch ups.....

Think of it as adding 'character' to the model.

Been a bit frustrating day or so in the shipyard.   I've been working on the rudder and got to the point of putting the Rudder Gudgeons on the rudder and fitting the rudder.  Could not for the life of me figure out how to mount the gudgeons to the stern post.   Then the penny dropped followed by much facepalming, banging of head on desk, and words used only by Marines and former Marines and not in mixed company.

I rotated the hull and noted that I didn't finish painting the sternpost and found 5 small holes predrilled.....  Doh!!!!!!   The gudgeons fit in those holes!!!

Anyway, where's where I am... drilling the holes in the stern post for fitting the gudgeons.  Hope to have the rudder fitted by tomorrow. Need to stop beating myself up and carry on.
