An important message from MSW Staff member Scottacus

Model Ship World was recently down for several days because our site was far too popular for the server to handle.  The amount of traffic generated by the site exceeded the bandwidth allowed by our server and we were automatically shut down so that we would not cause other sites hosted by that server to also crash.  We have since had to move to a dedicated server in order to keep this web site up and running.  Unfortunately this will increase the cost of operating MSW by a factor of over 300%!

Up to this point in time the vast majority of this site’s fees have been paid out of Jim’s (aka Captain Pugwash’s) pocketbook with a smattering of donations from other members. I for one feel very badly that Jim has not only had to come up with the idea for this site, build it, maintain it, promote it, develop it and also pay for it!  I would also hate to see the site have to resort to other sources of funding like those annoying pop-up ads to keep this ship afloat.

England expects that every man will do his duty.” were the famous words sent by Admiral Nelson to the fleet prior to the Battle of Trafalger.  I say the same to you as members of MSW.  Click on the link below and join me by sending a PayPal donation to keep this valuable resource going for years to come!

Welcome to Model Ship World

Model Ship World is a community of ship and boat modellers from around the world, whose aim is to promote ship & boat modelling of all types. This site was designed to house as many facets of model ship & boat building as possible, including wood, plastic, glass and resin types, and to house them in a single community based area. Whether you are a scratch builder or kit builder, RC or static, and whether you are a raw beginner or an experienced builder, your questions, comments and tips will be welcome within our Forums.

MSW also hosts a Gallery, where members are encouraged to submit photos of their models, both under-construction and completed, and other members may comment on them, and ask questions. From here, you may also print your favourite picture, or send it to your mobile phone.

If you want to buy, sell or swap any tools, kits or related items, then we have a classified Ads section where registered members can do just this. We also house a fully featured Links Directory where members may post a link and banner to their own, or favourite ship related site. Manufacturers and distributors of hobby related products may also post a relative link here too.

If you have a busy diary as far as your hobby goes, then we have just the feature for you; a calendar that you may use for posting private reminders, or public ones. We are sure you will find it useful.

Enjoy your stay with MSW. Registration is free.
